Hi all ;)

We at ITA_2011 have a small gift for you all . ;)

Gilles and I promised to ourselves that if we won the Tall ship race steering the Italian Navy Amerigo Vespucci school ship we would have tried to post a couple of pictures taken last year in fall in Venice , when Gil and I met and visited the Vespucci together . One of the pics shows Gil and I in front of the steering room , that we used succesfully during the past 48 hours ;) ;)
Andrea , aka ita10267 , was not with us in Venice , so we will pretend that when the pic was taken he was in the planning room depicting our race strategy . Antonio , aka ghibli and invaluable fourth member of team Italy was on leave this time , so we will pretend that he was permanently in the cellar drinking his usual tons of beer ;););)

Enjoy ! ..;) ;) ;)

see you all in the next tall ships race leg. ;)

Win

More info about Tall Ships Races finish procedure:

QUOTE
It is that if a vessel has not crossed the Finish Line (FL) by the time of the Time Limit, it submits its distance from the FL at the Time Limit. A Corrected Time is calculated for it and it has a place in the results list. (On several occasions the race has been won by a ship that never ever crossed the finish line.)

What happens is shown in paragraph 32.3
of Racing & Sailing Rules

The reason for this is based on the fact that the young crews who, in some cases, may have raced across the Atlantic Ocean or some similar distance, really don’t want to see just “Did Not Finish’ in the Results List after all their efforts. The formula was invented by a young crew member in one of our races in 1976 (a trans-Atlantic race).

For the current race the Time Limits are: 201900Z July, 201930Z July, 201945Z July & 202000Z July

Final handicapped results:

TCF (final)
AL	1.0000
AS	1.1927
B 1.2555
C 1.1991
D 1.0424

For complete results (to date) please see attached spreadsheet. The slower boats did end up taking a hit with rapidly fading wind at the finish. Reminds me of IRL.

Great work.
And interesting too.

Antonio (zero)
and now... the Cruise in Company!!!

remember to check out the brochure

Each Guest Harbour has its own series of events organised so once we spot a ship in port on AIS we can, hopefully, find a webcam to view it!! :-D

I don't have complete weather for this race, but this should still be much closer than we'd get IRL.

Andaman Islands PYOC 2025

The Andaman Islands are an archipelago, made up of 200 islands, in the northeastern Indian Ocean. Together with the Nicobar Islands to their south, the Andamans serve as a maritime boundary between the Bay of Bengal to the west and the Andaman Sea to the east. These waters will be the theater of our next 240nm race in the ARCH 2025 series. Which one you choose depends only on you, i.e. your Elan 410 sport will leave the Andaman Islands on the starboard or port side.

Isla San Lorenzo RTI 2025

SOL’s SRC (Sailonline Race Committee) has taken us to some unusual places in the past, and San Lorenzo Island off Lima’s Callao peninsula is definitely another one. Housing a naval base and a penal institution, no vessel is allowed within 300m of its shores. Also, with no sources of potable water, it is a matter of debate whether it is an island at all, and not just a large rock. So, whatever you do, don’t be tempted to BBQ; you’ll be arrested and go thirsty! We return for the first time since 2018 to race thirteen potentially unlucky miles in J-30s; have fun!!

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Carnarvon to Dondra

From here, our home in Bharatavarṣa is now north west of us – said Sinbad to his fellow balloonists. Perhaps we can ride the wind first further north, and then catch the winds that every year bring the rain, perhaps not. It’s 2600nm and we could be aloft awhile, so, Master el-Quarters, victuals only, no sandbags, provisioning the giant hamper. It will be not a picnic!
