Hi Scotsman - finally got this one set up ... the wx system is the big Pacific N one but we have a local one waiting in the wings to fill with the next update.

If you want to have a preview - you may wish to adjust the marks once you see them on the SOL chart - log in as the sol boat and then use this url:

LISTEN UP YE RUM SOAKED SCURVY MAGGOTS!!!

In September Sailonline will once more be racing to bring rum from the Carib to Mexico and all SYC Members are invited to adopt a pirate name for this race only.

This is an annual affair, run in close proximity to International Talk Like a Pirate Day (Sept 19).

It is now tradition that paid-up SYC Members may change their normal SOL boatnames just within this one race to one influenced by all things piratical! You are free to choose any name you like but remember, Sailonline is a family-friendly site so we reserve right to disallow names we think are inappropriate.

All requests for such changes will only be actioned if posted in this thread and will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.

PLEASE DO CHECK THE 2014 LIST below before submitting a request to ensure that you aren't requesting a name already taken by someone else before you!

Please note that the change of boatname for this one race will not affect either your usual login credentials (username and password) or your SYC rankings.

Once the race opens in September, I will change the boatnames as efficiently as possible!

NOTE: you may join SYC and request a change of name for the race at any time up to and during the Carib Rum Run, but your SYC member must valid/current for the duration of the race!

The N-S migration starts around the end of October so perhaps November would be better but... with climate change a SOL start from Bering earlier in October would not be unreasonable :-D

Welcome one welcome all to the second of the annual trio of races around the Hauraki Gulf organised by SSANZ. The excellent news for Sailonline, is that our choice of Young 88s for our races this year will be bringing us into direct competition with the real fleet of Young 88s (listed below) from the Y88 Association. As SSANZ is using Predictwind as its tracker of choice this time, we should be able to keep a close eye on our real-world rivals.

If you know anyone taking part, do give a shout-out in chat so we can all follow their progress!

    SSANZ Complete Entry List

    List of Young 88 Entrants:

    Heartlight
    Heaven 'n Hell
    Legless

Super Mac Race
In reality the Super Mac is a 530 NM race held every 10 years and last run in 2009. It starts with the annual Chicago to Mackinac race fleet and just continues down Lake Huron to Port Huron. Spanning the Great Lakes of Michigan and Huron, this is one of the most challenging fresh water races in the world, so launch your trusty First 40.7 and lets get racing!
