Hi dear Sailonline team,
First, you are wonderfull. I have never enjoy a web "simulation" more than this. (and actually is more than a simulation!). I am really appreciate your effort.
After the flowers my little contribution:
Would it possible for the forecasted position line within the next 6 hours take in account the DC command in the next 6 hours?
This will help a lot in tricky situation and "forced" short absence without taking anything out to the basic spirit of a long term strategy. In addition there is always a wheater update in this time frame so a forecast remain a forecast. And will avoid also terrible sign mistakes....
Thanks for your attention and best regards.
Gilles
Thank you for your suggestions Gilles. I will have noted your suggestions for future development. Making the predictor taking into account the DCs would be great indeed, there are a few tricky details in the implementation however that would need to be sorted out... :)
It would be nice, when planning future course changes, to be able to drop markers onto the map.
I suggest another tool - for markers: once the tool is selected, a left click would drop a marker and a right click would remove any markers within 0.5nm of the cursor position. If you log off all the markers should vanish. Markers could be small orange triangles with their centers at the clicked position.

Before I start with my New Years Wishes - a HUGE THANK YOU for this EXCELLENT game engine... I have no idea who's behind it but understand that i takes a lot of hard work... THANKS again...

WISHES: Do I sound like a crazy knucklehead if I wish there was some sort of auto-pilot where you put your waypoints on the chart so your tacks/gibes will take place...???
Thank's again,
&
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Thanks soo much! (Says one of the guys behind the game). The level of automation in steering is always up for discussion... We want human interaction etc...

Let me echo the positive sentiments above regarding this simulation & those who are responsible for offering it as well as maintaining its features for a wide audience of varying skills.

My suggestion, for your consideration, is to include Boat Speed & Wind Speed reporting with an extra digit of precision in the Navigation portion of the Skipper's control panel ( Steer Tab ) along the lines that Course & TWA already provide.

My approach has been decidedly 'low-tech' however I have noticed at various times that the rounding of 'tenths"
offered by the dashboard in the game's display yields slight variations that befuddle my attempts improve my boats performance because I am unable to discern the increasing or decreasing of the pertinent values.

I do not presume to think that this would alter the competitive balance of the game for me or those who are already able to bring more resources to bear on the situation nor do I decry their ability to do so. This would simply make my experience more enjoyable during the time that I have chosen to devote to playing it.

I am Chagrined to admit that during my Holiday hiatus I have found myself "in the game" while sleeping. Not only that but I am aware of equating 'tacking' to changing which side I turn to sleep on.
None so blind

======================================

That last part is hilarious, I am just wondering which you consider to be starboard sleep side tack (have right of way), when you are lying on your right, or when you are lying on your left exposing your right? And do you enforce your right of way if your wife is on opposite sleep tack? "Starboard! I need more bed room..." lol

But back to the serious reason I post this.
It is a little awkward but you can always use the steer tool to get your currrent speed to 2 decimals on the polar?

On that note, developers: You obviously interpolate between degrees and between the data for specific wind strengths shown on the polar (as coloured lines), is this a simple linear interpolation or what do you use? Or in the polar files I have seen from brainaid, the data points lie every integer degree and integer m/s windspeed, so interpolating between those, I mean really...
Knowing this one could implement an excel spreadsheet to show BS to any desired precision, given the polar data...

Thanks.

Would it be possible to include on the maps the names of islands. Maybe just the major ones, could maybe only make them visible when you zoom in to a particular level, or maybe toggle them on / off. Quite often I look at the map and would like to know more about where we are in the real world in more detail.

It is on our list. Thanks

Tobruk to Iskenderun 2026

Welcome to the fourth of our nine races across the length and breadth of the Magical Mediterranean Sea, and the second that is not in partnership with a real-life event, this time for good reason, which we won’t get into here. From Tobruk to Iskenderun it’s 670nm in length, with the added complication that the island of Cyprus will be in your way. Hoping, possibly forlornly, for plenty of downwind sailing, we’ll take the Lagoon 55 for the voyage!
