As I read it Bruce, there would still be a designated finish, but also a designated latest start time, so if you start and still dont finish in time, bad luck... But if you cant reasonably expect to finish the race in time, then it wont even let you start....
I help develop the client interface for the best online ocean racing sim there is... __/)/)_/)__
Agreed. Good idea.
A button to erase all the delayed commands (DC) at once; or the possibility to select more than one DC in order to delete a group of them.

That would be great. By the way everything else is great

Ciao
The divider/measure tool works a bit funky as it lays down a route but when clicking on the tool again the route disappears. This is not conducive to planning ones strategy easily. It would be better if the route you just placed down would stay there until you double clicked the tool or single clicked to add to the existing route set down or being able to set a second route to compare with the first.

By the way welcome back all and thanks to the team for bringing back our SOL
Take it "ESEA" go sailing
I would suggest an improvement on the weather forecast slider, some bigger marks that show the six hours forecast, and maybe some little marks that show each one hour.
good sailing, i like it
Thanks, we will consider your request.

Small thing but is there a home button on the race page? Sometimes I want to go back to the main page without a million clicks.
Great game thanks
In most browsers you can cmd-click (or similar) on a left-arrow to open previous page in a new window. Try if that works :-)

Once upon a time . . . , (all the good stories start this way), SOL had about 200 yachts in races and therefore being on Page 1 in the top 50 meant something, the top 25% of the 4 pages.

Now with 1100+ yachts, the leaderboard has 22+ pages, being on the top 25% covers many pages.

I would like to suggest an alternative.

Perhaps having the Top 5% on one page, then 5 to 10% on the next page and so on with perhaps those in the last 50% of the fleet be on the last page.

(See next Post as well.)
If it breaks, it's not strong enough!
With 1100+ yachts, many start late or do not start at all.

Perhaps we need to have a 2nd division that will allow for other sailors to start 24 hours later (for long races like VOR leg 6 etc) or for shorter races, start 4 or 6 hours later. This would allow for time zones around the world and different peoples availability when not working, travelling, sleeping or eating etc. (Why have I left out family time? LOL)

Perhaps some races could have 2 or 3 division starts and allow finishers in previous divisions to have another attempt.

If it breaks, it's not strong enough!

Lake Ontario 300 Challenge 2025

Lake Ontario Offshore Racing (LOOR) welcomes Sailonline sailors (SOLers for short) to a second virtual version of a race in their annual series, the LO300. As the name implies, the LO300 is a 300nm offshore race across the length and breadth of Lake Ontario, from and back to Port Credit YC. Once again, as is our wont on Lake Ontario, a fleet of Beneteau First 36.7s is being made available to virtual racers. There is an overall prize for the SOLer who best bosses Lake Ontario over the two races hosted by Sailonline, this 300 and the Susan Hood raced back in May; so, let the competition be fierce!

Red Eye - Key Lime Pie-gatta 2025

Opposite the Bahamas at the tip of the Florida peninsula, we find the Florida Keys, a honky-tonk arpeggio of islands, where another SOL classic, the Key Lime Pie-gatta, so-called after the famous local condensed-milk-based tart speciality, awaits to be navigated once again. We’ll race its “Red Eye” 180nm in very-American Santa Cruz 52s, ignoring such artefacts as bridges, causeways and piers joining the keys one to the other and to the mainland!

Sail Around Turkey 2025

Welcome to the 11th running of one of Sailonline's most iconic races, where our fleet races the length of the Turkish coastline from Hopa (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Black Sea coast) to Iskenderun (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast). It’s a 1,372nm race and aboard our classic, 1st decade of the 21st Century, version 2 IMOCA 60, you should be able to get around the course in less than a week. That is if, of course, once you get out of the Black Sea you don’t stop to enjoy the sights or a BBQ or two in the Golden Horn, or on the Marble Islands, now land-locked Troy or Gallipoli or any of the myriad Aegean islands, that you shall have to carefully navigate past.
