	It is without question that SOL will be running a round-the-world/global ocean race from the autumn of 2011 through to mid-year 2012. BUT what to call this race? As many understand, the major ocean races have entered into high-value $$$ contracts with commercial online games companies and have thus copyrighted the offical names. I thought it might be fun to have a competition (no prize save glory!) to name SOL's next global race. From now, 3 August 2011 until 31 August 2011 please submit your ideas. As they are proposed I will add them to this post for ease of reference. THEN on 31 August, providing there aren't too many ideas, we can run a poll to choose the name we like best! 	RC: Forget the glory. Make a real prize e.g. 12 months SYC membership. Worth something and easy to give and administer. Perhaps other prizes: Longest time aground but still finished in top 100 boats. RTW SoL Name: "THERE and BACK" "Into the Atlantic and HOME", said by Sir Francis Chichester as he saied past Cape Horn and threw his southern ocean charts overboard. If it breaks, it's not strong enough!

	Great Idea! Name: SOLer Wind 2011-12 (concept goes to Danny) I also like PaulRs idea... Podium gets something tangible. 1st: 1yr of SOL membership 2nd: A piece of SOL apparel 3rd: A SOL Bear Speaking of "SOL-aphernalia", it would great to have SOL logo decals. 	Hi Folks! I don't mind the name at all but because we have already done one circumcision this year can we spice this one up a little? Along the lines of.. A Nations Cup - Best added times of say 3 national boats A Team Challenge - let's go the whole boat babysit nine yards Virtiual Prize for voted Best Named boat A National Team Boat - Let's challenge ITA2011 with a USA2011, All Blacks2011, Aussie2011, Mapleleaf2011 etc etc Let's make our race a tiny bit more interesting than the other unmentioned one! Melbourne to Osaka Prelude 2024

Welcome once again to what these days is Sailonline’s almost annual virtual Melbourne to Osaka Yacht Race. In real life, this double-handed 5500 nm race between these two sister cities, one deep in the southern hemisphere, the other high in the northern hemisphere, is run every four to five years, and is planned to be held again in 2025, so this race is a Prelude in partnership with the Melbourne Osaka Cup 2025 organising committee collaborating with the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria (ORCV), and the Sandringham (SYC) and Osaka Hokko (OHYC) yacht clubs. On this occasion, we’ll be racing the well-known First 40, a popular size of boat for a long-distance double-handed race. With the doldrums unavoidably lying across the track, you can expect to be at virtual sea for at least a month!

St Nazaire Chasse TIMED Race 2024

Welcome to a "chasse" (hunt) from St. Nazaire to La Baule on the west coast of France! This race was designed by SOLer FR_flouflou in 2010. The KER 40 was introduced to SOL in 2016 by SOLer psail, and the Sol-KER was a welcome addition to SOL’s fleet of 40- footers, as it was to the IRL Ker fleet of eponymous - like KERonimo, KukuKERchu and Ice BreaKER. This is a TIMEDrace, so you may RE-REGISTER HERE to try again, after finishing a run. You will have 13 days and 11 hours to show your skill and decision making after the race opens.

Cape Town to Auckland 2024

Welcome to the second leg of this Round The World series 2024. It's also the April edition of this year's ocean race championship. The course is the same as the one sailed in 2023, but this year we sail the iconic Swan 65, as suggested in the concluding RTW race last year.

It's essential to take care of provisioning to ensure a smooth and enjoyable race experience.
