In the same place.
In the same place.
Hey Kipper.

Could you please insert the link to onedrive instead of writing "In the same place"?
It would make access so much easier, instead of having to go back and locate the link in an earlier post.
Thank you 😉

Hello Kipper

I am new here and still in the learning curve of the tools. Thanks for making and keeping the DC Checker.

I installed the AGL version 3.2.3 in my Windows computer but apparently I cant get any AIS information and also get an incomplete Map when converting the DCs into a graphical path.

Do you have any clue why that could be happening?

Attached two screes shots: 1) the Parameters I have set up and 2) the Path in graphic format.

Thanks much.

Nelson

Hi Nelson,

Those screenshots you included are typical of an older version of Kipper's AGL.

The latest version is at least version 3.2.0 and the appearance is quite different. You can compare as I have used both versions as shown in my race reports.

Version 3.2.0 is now available which has several enhancements and must be installed by all qtVlm users. The change allows qtVlm to filter out SOL AIS data and not send fake data to AISHUB.

If you have set up AGL correctly in the past according to the install instructions, you should only have to download put AutoGribLoader 3 2 0.jar in the same folder as the old version (e.g. AutoGribLoader 3 1 2.jar), and then download and run AGVersion.bat. This will cause AG.bat to now use the correct version.

Both these files are in the root of the OneDrive folder link.

The user manual has also been updated with the new functionality descriptions.

@Calm
Thank you very much. But the version of AGL I have is the 3-2-3 available on the OneDrive. This is the only one I have ever installed as I am new to this.

Anyhow, doing further research I found out that my Computer is running Intel Gen 3 and does not properly handle OpenGL. This may be the reason I am not getting the full graphics experience.

I moved to a macOS computer and it is working ALMOST fine. It works with all functionalities but, after a while, the DC checker map comes only as an empty gray screen. I have to close and open the AGL again and... voila, it is working fine again. Not sure what is causing this bug but at lesat I have a fully functional AGL now.

Thanks again for your feedback

Fair winds and following seas.

I am having a consistent malfunction when opening the Graphic Interface in the DC Checker.

There is an inconsistent behavior, with the Graphic working when you first start AGL but subsequently only showing a blank screen. For example, if you load the DCs to the server e check them for the first time, you can see them in Graphic form. However, if you change any DCs on the server and refresh the AGL, the odds of having a new graphic interpretation are 40/60.

Any advise or help will be welcome. To avoid confusion, I am running AGL_3_2_3 on a macOS Catalina with JarRsrcLoader.

Thanks much
All, I've put version 4_0_0 up on OneDrive which is available to download in the same place. I have not update the doc yet, but a quick summary of fixes and improvements.
1. Far more reliable with internet outages. Should recover and not hang.
2. Re-organised the Parameters screen, and removed redundant options.
3. Added some command line options to AG.bat to prevent heap size exceptions. You need to replace your current AG.bat with this one.
3. Added Isotachs and wind barbs
4. Added a button next to the DC Set button that allows a DC to be selected and then the isotachs and wind barbs are update to that DC time
5. Simplified DC text and added a DC legend.
6. Moved graphics toolbar into graphics window.
7. Added functionality to prevent DC text overwriting when required.
8. Several other bug fixes.
I am having a consistent malfunction when opening the Graphic Interface in the DC Checker....

SeeU, I really have no idea. I don't have a Mac, so not sure. Couple of things to check.
1. You are running 64 bit Java? If not, switch to that first.
2. Are you running the jar directly, or launching out of a bash shell? If out of a shell, are there any exceptions appearing, and if so, what are they. If you are not launching out of a shell, try that and see if you get any exceptions. They are the key to tracing down the problem.

New Ice Age 2026 - Neumayer Station to Scott Base

For a second-half of long-distance ice-boating, we take our DNs to Antarctica for a circumnavigation of that continent in two legs clockwise, in harmony with the prevailing winds (such as there are), beginning with a race from Germany’s Neumayer Station to New Zealand’s Scott Base. It’s about 3500nm, which, if there’s wind at all, should, well-wrapped in your DN-cockpits, not take you much more than five days. And remember: charts down here are unreliable – what is land and what is ice?!

Viareggio Bastia Viareggio 2026

Our sixth race of nine to celebrate all things Mediterranean - fickle winds, history and olive oil - was planned to be our third buddy-up with another incredible Italian event, the Viareggio Bastia Viareggio (or BVR for short). Unfortunately, in-real-life the BVR has been cancelled this year. But online we shall race it never the less. It’s a quickie – a 160nm roundtrip there-and-back in classic Class 40. Have fun, and if you’re planning a BBQ, piccola isola Capraia halfway across is simply lovely!
