The real issue here is the "absolute denial" and wierd explanations after the fact.
Not sure what you mean by 'denial' - as i said all the polars were available well before the race, and we chose accordingly
All boats have bulges in their polars.
The keel dipping lower in water giving greater speed at that windspeed.
Boats can sail faster than the wind at TWA 180.
Its not uncommon that boats can be designed to sail faster at a specific windspeed and direction.
One polar is in m/s but the one useg in the race is in knots. I could go on.
Units used in the polar are irrelevant as long as all the numbers are converted properly... Yes the original polars used m/s, but again it should be the overall profile used for selection, not raw numbers - or convert them to knots so you can get a sense of how the polar will be in SOL client - or use an app that does it for you ;-)

What exactly do you think was 'screwed up'? Sure the uprising polar was very fast at TWA180 in approx 8 knots, but like I said we all knew that before the race?
