Not sure if this is any real problem, but the qtVlm map for the 'Return from Lindisfarne' race is only showing Finish A and Finish B and not showing Göteborg! The SOL race map is showing Göteborg!
The easy solution is to insert a new mark called Göteborg in the desired location which I have done in my qtVlm. But why was it not there to start with is my question.
Probably NMEA does not like "ö" and similar strange characters
Probably NMEA does not like "ö" and similar strange characters
Correct. NMEA standard only allows the standard ASCII set. The extended character set is not supported. This has been raised before with the SOL race constructors not to use the extended character set in waypoint names, as they are not supported.
Sorry for possibly stuoid question

How do I get a Brainaid DC eatable format out of QTVLM Rout Export ? Tried several times....

TKS 2 ALL
I've released a new version of AGL (3.2.1) that remaps the extended ASCII set to the standard ASCII set. This version will fix the problem permanently.
find kroppyer sailonline tools.
http://sol.kroppyer.nl/
On the left side you find
QtVLM route converter
Click on it and see what you can do with that.

Alternatively find a good text-editor into which you load your .csv file.

Delete all the columns you do not need.
first column will be date (dd/mm/yyyy or mm/dd/yyyy format). The values here you have to change to brainaids format (yyyy/mm/dd)
Some pasting together date and course is the next step

If in the editor you can make a little program/macro, that would be quit helpfull to accomplish this whole transformation.

Lacsareno

And to be precise:
In QTVLM you go to
Routes>Edit route->
choose routing# you want to edit.
click on <Route logbook> and wait till the "Route logbook" is on screen.
Now click on <Eport (CSV format)>

Hi there. Trying to do the whole routing thing only on an ipad. I'm almost there but it's so long since I've done this I've forgotten one thing. Can someone fill me in please...is Andrew's (kipper's) programme the only place to source the race marks file (gpx file)? Thanks.
I have an enhancement request. Can we please add current time to the current position (through the Position tab on the boat information). I using qt for an IRL ocean race on the weekend and we had to report time and position several times during the race, and also record out finish time. It would be great to have this all in the same place. Thanks in advance.
Hello all,
this may be a bit special: I'm actually participating the race to Rio, using qtvlm as routing software, with brainaids fine nmea-tool (on a mac mini, with catalina running). So far so good. What if I want to attend next the next race (Dondra to Sanya) with the race to Rio still running? May I use a second installation of qtvlm (simple copy)? An what about nmea? There seems no way to assign an different IP…

Jakob's Birthday BBQ Race 2024

Sailonline had two founders and Jakob, the more senior of the two, has his birthday in April which we always like to celebrate with a race through the Stockholm Archipelago from Revengegrundet Lighthouse to his mooring at Baggensfjärden. Traditionally also, like other celebrations this time of year, this feast has been “moveable”, so on this occasion we will be racing on a Wednesday in one of our latest high-performance 40-footers, the Carkeek 40. Please join us then for this always tricky 30nm race. Grattis på födelsedagen Jakob!

Melbourne to Osaka Prelude 2024

Welcome once again to what these days is Sailonline’s almost annual virtual Melbourne to Osaka Yacht Race. In real life, this double-handed 5500 nm race between these two sister cities, one deep in the southern hemisphere, the other high in the northern hemisphere, is run every four to five years, and is planned to be held again in 2025, so this race is a Prelude in partnership with the Melbourne Osaka Cup 2025 organising committee collaborating with the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria (ORCV), and the Sandringham (SYC) and Osaka Hokko (OHYC) yacht clubs. On this occasion, we’ll be racing the well-known First 40, a popular size of boat for a long-distance double-handed race. With the doldrums unavoidably lying across the track, you can expect to be at virtual sea for at least a month!
