Board » Sailonline Race Committee » Races
As in 2017 and 2018 every race of 2019 will be recorded with a Podium result posted here in Forum (Races) in the format of an award certificate and by calendar month.

The document also serves as Protocol Ceremony , as it carries a link to the National Anthem of the winner boat

    Suggestion :

place your audio level at 50%
open the pdf Document and save it to your PC, then open the saved pdf and click on the link at the bottom.

As soon as the youtube file opens just minimize it.

    Enjoy !! ;)

  • 2019 SMPF SCHEME
    Board » Sailonline Yacht Club
    =======================================
    2019 SMPF SCHEME IS LAUNCHED!
    ANY SPONSORS AROUND? :)
    =======================================

The SMPF scheme (SYC Membership Pay Forward) will continue in 2019.

At the end of 12 races in 2018 ( one each month) one annual membership to the Sailonline Yacht Club was made available by a member of the SOL Community to the best finishing NON member in each of the nominated races.

The 2018 sponsors did either make their Sponsorship publicly known, or acted anonymously under the flag of the Sailonline Yacht Club.

The number of slots available for sponsoring one SMPF is extremely limited, as again in 2019 ONLY ONE SMPF race per month will be nominated and sponsored.

By responding promptly to this invitation you will secure yourself a slot in the 2019 Sponsorship list

All you need to do at this time is to write to: coord@sailonline.org , and confirm your willingness to support the SMPF scheme in 2019. If you want you can also indicate which race you would like to sponsor (*). All possible efforts to satisfy you desire will be made.

(*) As Q1 calendar is already published during such period only the three already nominated races can be sponsored.

Some important information before you decide:

1)– Your participation to the scheme, should you want to remain anonymous, will be treated in fully confidential mode by the Coordinator and the Sailonline Nav Sim AB Board, thus there will be only three persons aware of your position in the scheme.

2)- This is by no means a solicitation to invest USD 35,00 into our platform, and you should not in any way feel obliged to adhere to the scheme.

3)- The prerequisite of not being a SYC member for the past twelve months to become eligible for the SMPF scheme , in case of finishing first of non-members, has been confirmed for the 2019 scheme.

We look forward to hearing from you and to a well supported 2019 SMPF scheme!

On behalf of Sailonline NAV SIM AB

  • GGR 2018 - LEG 1 & 2 COMBINED RANKING
    Board » Sailonline Race Committee
The GGR boats are approaching the finish line, and after several months of challenge there will be a Winner , a Podium , and a SOTP best finisher.

As soon as arrivals will start flowing, provisional manual rankings will be posted HERE.

The final and official PODIUM will be filed HERE as well as in in the appropriate thread related to Special Series.

The provisional rankings will be " UNOFFICIAL " and subject to change until the ranking process will be declared finished and therefore " OFFICIAL ".

We will rank the maximum possible number of boats eligible for "COMBINED GGR RANKINGS" and will aim to do so as soon as possible.

As boats will continue to arrive in Les sables d' Olonne for a longtime, we suggest that SOLers look for "RANKINGS UPDATES" hereunder.

Please expect the ranking process to come to an end at a certain reasonable time after majority of boats has arrived.

Congratulations to all the BRAVES who managed to meet the challenge ! ;)

In order to allow Top ranked Skippers to be aware of correct rankings situation before the last race , we are here publishing such redressed rankings , based on all the single race redressed rankings this far.
The server is of course slightly different as it does not consider manual redressings that took place during the year

    ( races 6 – 8 – 9 – 10- 11)

We are publishing the provisional correct situation of Top 30 boats after race 11

Good luck with last race !!

Golden Globe Race - Leg 1 to Storm Bay
Welcome, all, to the 2018 Golden Globe Race and Sailonline’s virtual version of this iconic 50th anniversary rerun of 1968’s first ever non-stop single-handed round-the-world race in yachts and with technology in keeping with that historic time.
To reflect the challenge being undertaken by the real racers, as announced previously, SOL invites all who feel so inclined to add their boat name to the post in FORUM declaring you will race by the proverbial "Seat Of The Pants" (SOTP) with no outside assistance from routing software or other external aids, BEFORE THE STARTING GUN IS FIRED.
To simulate the real race which features a 90 minute minimum stopover in Storm Bay, SOL’s online version has been divided into two legs. This first leg then is from Les Sables-d’Olonne to Storm Bay. When the leaders approach Storm Bay, Leg 2 from thence back to Les Sables via Cape Horn, will open. YOU MAY NOT START LEG 2 UNTIL AT LEAST 90 MINUTES AFTER FINISHING LEG 1. The penalty for starting Leg 2 before finishing Leg 1 is NO RANKING. The penalty for starting Leg 2 within 90 minutes of finishing Leg 1 is 5x the time you started too early.
DO NOT START TOO EARLY!
