  • Performance loss Traverse Race
    Board » Flag Officers
    Hi All
Im not one to complain and with routers so in abundance and still a STOP Sol competitor I do think the Performance loss on the RP 66 is so unrealististic I am just staggered. Yes whe you bbq but not a tack 2 or 3 mins to build up speed but this is silly.
Im struggling with this along with such an unlevel playing field as it is.
Please dont loose the heart of SOL.
Tim PR just not happy at where we are going here

    Hi All,
I have searched everywhere and can see the final overall standings for this race, have they been published yet or is this still WIP as I know you had a lot to do to finalise.
Just after such a long race dying to know how I finally did.
Many thanks for all your hard work.

SOTP for me please I dont have never and never will use a router hence I never do very well but its the taking part. Maybe it should be considered mandatory to take part ?? hard to impose I know but levels the playing field a bit Fair winds all the SOTP's

Hi all and many thanks for the replies and the detailed info given and I can fully understand the dilema that was faced before the start. Please dont see my comments as a moan as it was not I (and im sure I speak for all SOLERS) are very very grateful for the time and dedication that you give to make sure we have a SOL and without you it would not exist. It was however as im sure you agree a horrible leg where the weather just went against going anywhere. Great news on the balance of the legs and I look forward to the usual fun and competitive racing. Thanks again for all that you do. PR

Just a question as I know there has been some discussion around this but the course for the first leg seemed to be very protracted in comparison to the IRL course. Whilst I fully appreciate legal variations need to be implemented im not sure that it needed to be quite as protracted as it was. Is it possible to indicate if the next legs and following ones will (even if our start is delayed) be more following the IRL race or additional variations will be added. SOl is great and I will do every race but this leg rather put a dampner on something I was looking forward to doing. Many thanks Tim (Pocket Rocket)

Refeno Rally 2024

Although since 1986 this 300nm course from Recife, Brazil, to Fernando Noronha Island has been run many times IRL, we have only used this route twice in SOL. This time it will be the route of the last race in the ARCH 2024 classification.
Although the winner of the general classification can already be determined, the fight for the next places on the podium should be fierce. There are several contenders and Dofour34 have them at their disposal. Since we are starting in Vida_Maldita's home waters, he will give us a 30-minute handicap. Or maybe we should give it to him? 😊

The Beagle in the Azores 2024

And west the Beagle went one final time to round the Cape of Good Hope on May 31 1836. Ashore, Darwin met up with the Astronomer Royal, Herschel, who just happened to be in South Africa at the same time mapping the southern skies. After sounding out his many ideas on evolution and extinction with Herschel, the Beagle now sailed north, stopping briefly in St Helena, Ascension and Brazil, and the Cape Verdes again, to reach the Azores on September 19, 1836. Fitzroy and Darwin at this stage were in a hurry to get back to Britain, but online in 2024 we will stay a little longer to explore this final remote archipelago in our virtual Tall Ship Class B Beagle, 630nm round and about the islands, minding as always in these waters not to bump into any large cetaceans!
