  • Re: Day/Night Changes
    Board » General Discussion
There seems to be a lot of dissatisfaction aimed at the developers for giving us the day/night mode.

It should be remembered that this feature came about because some players asked for it. The developers did not suck the idea out of thin air.

Give them a break folks, they are doing their best and need all of our support.

Hi Guys, keep up the good work, this toy is great.

Any chance of a tickbox or something to hide tracks? (Flash Client)

I have found that when the winds are very light and your screen is cris-crossed with the tracks of other boats, it is very difficult to get a clear view of what the winds are doing. Pleeeeease.

    Cheers

    Hi Kalle

ANother bit to add to this bug/feature.

In Firefox, even though all the boats move as they should, the distance and bearing information that appears in blue next to you pointer appears to be measured from the position your boat was when you last refreshed, not from where your boat currently is.

    Cheers

Got firefox problem sorted. I was connecting to http://sailonline.org/windy/run/103/#. Client would open but no data. As soo as I chnaged URL to http://www.sailonline.org/windy/run/103/# (Added www.) then data came and all OK.

AND, interesting, all boats are updated and move correctly every minute. So looks like a problem when running in IE7.

    Cheers

    Thanks Kalle.

It def does not seem to move other boats. I have left my screen idle for 10 mins. Please see teh result in teh atatched.

One other issue that is prob related also, a Grey version of my boat if left behind while the Pink version hops forward. Is this correct?

BTW, running IE7 on XP and Flash 9,0,124,0

See the attached screenshot of what I mean.

Oddly enough, If I open a new tab withing the same IE7 browser session, it forces an update and all boats, including my grey version, hop to the correct place.

I have tried Firefox to see if same issue there but so far I cannot get the Flash client to run properly on there. Opens up but no data downloaded.

    Cheers

    HI Guys

I notice that when running the flash client, my boat moves in near-real-time. Other boats do not move though.

    Is this correct?

  • DC's gone missing
    Board » Technical Support
Hi Guys. Dont't know if it was the recent "action" by Kalle, but I notice that my Start DC's which I set a few days back have gone AWOL. I have reset them now if if it was the "Archiving" of the race that caused it, you may have some unhappy peeps tomorrow.

    Cheers

New Ice Age 2026 - Browerville to Longyearbyen

Our 2026 long-distance ice-boating challenge continues with a second race in Arctic waters, now from Browerville, where we arrived less than a month ago, continuing east, back to Svalbard’s Longyearbyen, leaving Canada’s Ellesmere Island to port and Denmark’s Greenland to starboard. It’s about 2500nm, which, if there’s wind at all, should, well-wrapped in your DN-cockpits, not take you more than a day or three, thus to complete your first (of several) online circumnavigation of the planet of 2026!

Beketov by Balloon 2026 - In Siberia

Way-back-when France and England, and Spain as well, were squabbling about who should control what of North America, only to lose the most of it to their own insurging colonists, their eastern European neighbour empire, Russia, was quietly assimilating vast, thinly nomadically populated territory of its own – Siberia! Amongst the many explorers and adventurers that served Russia so well in these conquests was the Cossack hetman Pyotr Beketov. Let’s pretend we’re he and eschewing horseback, let’s travel by balloon from Yekaterinberg to Krasnoyarsk – just a short 2000km (1100nm) section of the Trans-Siberian Express’ 9289km!

West Papua to Oregon 2026

Our next race in our Ocean Championships is the first of a series of great natural migrations we will track in 2026. The leatherback turtle is the most widely distributed marine reptile on planet Earth, and chooses to breed in warm tropical waters, but prefers to forage in more temperate habitats, travelling thousands and thousands of miles effortlessly annually to maintain this way of life. Our race will follow one of the typical trips of this turtle, from breeding grounds in the seas off West Papua to the coast of Oregon. It’s only 5900nm, so to keep up, but in comfort, we’ll follow in our Gunboat 90.
