I can access the sailonline site but when I open a race I get an error page directing me to get flash. needless to say, I have flash. I cleared sailonline cookies. using firefox 14.0.1
The other day Chrome was having a hissy fit so I uninstalled it and moved to FF and it works fine.. although I find it freezes after a while (a documented issue with too many windows apparently). I have now reinstalled Chrome and it is behaving.

I am using WIN7 and there seem to be some WIN7/Flash type issues.

If the "usual" doesn't cure then I think an uninstall/clean/reboot/reinstall of the browser might work?

Maybe someone else with specific knowledge of FF can help.

I agree about Win7 / Flash having issues, BTW it freezes my SOL tabs yet other tabs in FF keep working. I have to reboot my laptop to get SOL working again.

My WinXP is running the same version of FF (14.0.1) and Flash (11,3,300,270) and it has no problems, in fact under XP, the Weather Forecast bar is different, I have access to the Options button on the Help tab and can enable both predictors.

I need to take care of some business and when I come back +/- 3 hours I will take some sreencaps in the different environments and put them in imageshack, the forum upload facility restricts me to three (3) uploads?

BTW, there is no Win7-02.jpg because the option like under XP is not there.

edit The last one Win7-SOL-frozen.jpg means just that, I could not use ANY tab or button on the screen. /edit

In your Win7 enviroment you are using the OLD client - therefore its different.. Veryfy that the end of the URL is not # , but ?beta=true ....

I posted this in the Flash Crash... forum. It may help.

I use Chrome on Win 7 Pro 64bit. Haven't had the problem while SOLing but have in the past. I now run a freeware named Secunia PSI (secunia.com/products/consumer/psi) to make sure all versions of apps are up to date. Making sure you have the latest version of Chrome and Flash seems to help and after each race I run CCleaner to clear the crap out of temp files. I did run SOL contiuously in the Lindisfarne Raid without any probs. I run SOL in a seperate window with maybe only 2 or 3 tabs for Brainaid other SOL stuff like Google Earth. I then use Firefox for any other browsing I may do while SOLing. Hope that helps.
Sorry, last post was me

stoerte and Tyger, tx. for the tips.
@Tyger, I know use JV16 (will do the same) and I will look into the Flash Crash thread.

I guess, besides my mistakes, I will leave this on the shelf for the time being.
Cheers!

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
