Schakel

WOW!!!! These are all races that have never been run in SOL???? (With the exception of the 2 underway now and the pending calendar??)

ShamPir - the list produced by Shakel is not entirely correct as it appears to be a printout from the database "as is" without any qualification for races that exist for non-SOL purposes, for Test purposes etc.

BUT nevertheless there is a big number of races yet to be run!

:-)

Making the SOL Race Calendar suits me very well as I love cooking and.. to me the right SOL calendar is like preparing a meal of many dishes as it is combining new races with favourites plus fixed IRL buddy-ups... maintaining a balance of weekend/week/Ocean race types while remembering different series to be completed and not forgetting a nice blend of venues from around the globe, different boat-types and going where the wx might be frisky/interesting hehehe
RC
It certainly is a tasty and varied menu! Love it!!
Suggest we unofficially change your title to "Chef du SOL"!!!!
;-)

I removed the contents of the Schakel's list since it is only work in progress and does not represent a true/complete outline of the future races. Sorry :)
Any suggestions for a September/October ocean race?

Finding week and weekend races is relatively simple but, bearing in mind that there will be a long (in stages) round-the-world race starting in November,we do probably need an ocean race between the end of the MauiPPK and the circumnavigation :-)
AFR 2011. Start: 30/10 0900 UTC :-)
Hawk - that is end October and SOL's global race will start on 5 November.

When I asked for September/October I meant a race to start in early/mid-September or so (to allow folks time to regather their composure after the end of the MauiPPK)!! :-D

What time on 30 September would you like your race? I presume AFR is your AlsFyn Race?? :-D

and

we still need a September ocean race!!

AFR = AlsFyn Race, Yes...

10.00 UTC - then we will stay at school overnight :-). I might use some mentors, like ShamPir, maybee news and 3-4 more, but I will make a new forumpost on this matter, when the race is schedueld.

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
