	I will post a gpx file for each race, here and on the soltools blog - here. Each file will include marks for the start and finish line (both ends plus a mid point) and all course marks/waypoints, and a route defining the sctual course. I will endevour to post them within 24 hours of race announcement. 	AGage - what is a gpx file please?I just tried to open it from the Forum link and it wouldn't open. It is not a file necessary for SOL and by making a totally new thread for whatever this is is likely to confuse newbies to SOL, just as it is confusing for me!! If this is a file just for use with your software then please may I suggest that you make a link to it (and all the others to come) on your own server/computer and let folks access it through your Toolkit? Just as brainaid's Toolbox is accessible totally off-SOL, so yours should be too Your tools/software aren't easily findable at the moment so rather than have several threads/posts, which is both inappropriate and confusing, please would you bring all your links etc into one thread which we can then make a sticky at the top of this forum for a while so folks can get used to looking for and using it. The other advantage of having just one "source" for your software is we could add a link to it via the Links Tab here on the homepage as has been done with other super-helpful info. --- Last Edited by RainbowChaser at 2011-03-29 11:27:04 ---

	GPX is for GPS Exchange Format and is supported by many GPS and 3D viewers. Google Earth can import and display those files.

	AG... I tried to open the .gpx through GE and it still would not happen. What does a GPX file show? I could not even find it in the folder it was supposedly "saved" to (even when I went to that folder from GE directly). Weird.

	Yep, sorry SP I posted the wrong file above, BWR also saves its races in gpx and I mistakenly uploaded that oops. RC, it is just the race in a very common xml format for navigational software, nothing to do with my own tools which aren't even ready to be made public yet, or I would have done exactly as you say. Besides, mine dont make use of any data not available directly from SOL. I did first post it on the blog, but as it is just a file containing the course waypoints i decided maybe some would appreciate them on this forum to. I will not post future races here, but they will be available from the blog page. This is exactly why I created the wordpress blog - although it wasnt to get a link here on sailonline but that would be nice... a few more benefits of making the blog too - comments etc, but primarily just a single location for everything. 	AGage - do you still want this thread moved to Races Forum? If so I can do that. Are you happy with all the tools available via your blog? If so,I will add a link to it under the Links "link" (you know what I mean) in the blue banner across the Homepage and Forum pages.

Kamchatsky to Tromsoe 2024

Just before the light failed entirely in Antarctica, Skip Novak managed to get his Pelagic 77 out of the ice and north up the Pacific to Kamchatsky. The sun is shining (24/7) and not a penguin to be seen, and Skip believes the Norh East Passage is ice-free (sufficiently) to attempt it, so all aboard for a c 4250nm voyage from east to west across the top of Siberia, Russia and Norway to Tromsoe!

Cowes to St Malo TIMED Race 2024

Organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club since 1929, the Cowes to St Malo Race is a true RORC Classic. Starting from the Royal Yacht Squadron Line, Cowes, IOW, a magnificent spectacle can be watched from The Parade, Cowes. The Cowes to St Malo Race is part of the RORC Season’s Points Championship, the world’s largest offshore racing series. Dating back to 1906, the Cowes to St Malo Race precedes all of the world’s famous races including the Fastnet Race. This is a TIMEDrace, so you may RE-REGISTER HERE to try again, after finishing a run. You will have 13 days and 11 hours to show your skill and decision making after the race opens.

Lake Ontario 300 Challenge 2024

Lake Ontario Offshore Racing (LOOR) welcomes Sailonline to a second race of their annual series, this time as hosts of the virtual LO300. As the name implies, the LO300 is a 300nm offshore race across the length and breadth of Lake Ontario, from and back to Port Credit YC. Once again, as is our wont on Lake Ontario, a fleet of Beneteau First 36.7s is being made available to virtual racers. There is an overall prize for the SOLer who best bosses Lake Ontario over the two races hosted on SOL, this 300 and the Susan Hood raced back in May; so let the competition be fierce!

Tall Ships Races 2024 - Tallinn to Turku

Welcome to the second of three virtual Tall Ships Races on the Baltic Sea which are concurrently being organized in-real-life Sail Training International . This second race is from Tallinn, Estonia to Turku, Finland; circa 150nm in Sailonline’s stately Full Rigger.
NOTE: Starts and Finishes in tall ships racing are always offshore to avoid conflict with shipping and shipping lanes.

Southampton to Punta del Este 2024

Sailonline is delighted to offer our sailors a 'reversed' Atlantic ocean race. As the RTW championship Atlantic part takes a detour to the Bahamas, we will offer you a reversed course as we will not do the 'usual' leg this year either. It is the July edition of this year's Ocean Championship. Our boat is the OD_65v3.
