The course will test both a skipper's open water & close quarter skills in order to finish successfully. ( 600 nm ) 5) Long Description November is the most challenging month for any vessel trying to complete a journey over the waters of this angry Behemoth. Winter beckons harsher circumstances which are often heralded by volatile weather conditions that can be sudden and dramatic. 	Thank you For your helpful attitude. I believe the details listed above to be complete & accurate. Although my original "Rough Draft" was submitted directly to Jakob and his reply indicated the pertinent details required to execute a proposed race into SOL format. Before I was able to meet this standard the whole "Race Committee" entity emerged & I was informed that Posting to the Forum was the preferred method to eventually place it into the SOL calendar. All coordinates have been derived from Google Earth & double checked, corrected as noted. The Top Members of the committee have acknowledged in Chat that they are aware of my submission. I chose to start a Thread Just for Race Proposals to keep them separate from all the other topics under discussion so they would not get lost in the mix so to speak. Patience is required I believe as the process is in Flux and will occur in due course. The Race can proceed even if held in December for the 1st time but if it is well received I would applaud its being a staple of future Novembers for the SOL docket. None so blind

This would impart, in my estimation, an element of unpredictability that might enhance the enjoyment as well as provide for multiple routing decisions for an otherwise short format race. ------------------------------------------------ The Legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead When the skies of November turn gloomy. With a load of iron ore - 26,000 tons more Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed When the gales of November came early The ship was the pride of the American side Coming back from some mill in Wisconson As the big freighters go it was bigger than most With a crew and the Captain well seasoned. Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms When they left fully loaded for Cleveland And later that night when the ships bell rang Could it be the North Wind they'd been feeling. Kapiti Chetwodes Race 2024

For only the second time in SOL history, we have the pleasure of inviting you to the Kapiti Chetwodes Race, held in the Cook Strait region. Organised IRL by the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club from Wellington in New Zealand. The approximately 160nm long route, full of turning points, will take us from the bay at RPNYC around the islands of Somes, Kapiti and Chetwodes and back to the finish line at RPNYC. We have only a 26 ft Albin 79 yacht at our disposal. All this means that we will have a lot of fun, so fair winds!

Two Oceans Doublecross TIMED Race 2024

Our November Timed race takes us to Cape Town near where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. Our ride is a beautiful ketch, the Archer 78. Starting at Cape Town, we’ll round Robben Island, then head south to round Cape Point, up around Seal Island before heading north to round Dassen Island before returning to Cape Town.
