Commentary

Well, the bucolic bliss, that is Upstate New York on the shores of Lake Ontario, was accented by glorious fall weather with light variable winds, as the morning awoke for our first sprint of Q4. Not quite what some of our hard-core sprinters had hoped for, but certainly likely to make the race tactically interesting. And indeed, as so often with wrf gribs in light synoptics, the WX update, after four and a half hours racing, quite put 'the cat among the pigeons'. Or should that be 'Billy Bass among the minnows?'

But despite the various vagaries 'de vent' the racing was exceptionally close, and it was bonknhoot who took the gun, a mere four seconds ahead of WINDEGG. But nobody could stop WINSTON4 taking the 2019 Sprint Championships with yet another podium placing and still three races to go. You can read how he went about it in his report above. Well done all!

Tobruk to Iskenderun 2026

Welcome to the fourth of our nine races across the length and breadth of the Magical Mediterranean Sea, and the second that is not in partnership with a real-life event, this time for good reason, which we won’t get into here. From Tobruk to Iskenderun it’s 670nm in length, with the added complication that the island of Cyprus will be in your way. Hoping, possibly forlornly, for plenty of downwind sailing, we’ll take the Lagoon 55 for the voyage!
