CONGRATULATIONS KarmaFish!
Sailing in the Persian/Arabian Gulf has always been a real test of expertise as the winds are rarely strong or consistent. For this first running of TheHorn's Black Gold Rush, the fickle and variable nature of the offshore breezes from the coastlines split the fleet almost from the start - some hugging the N shore, others making a more direct track to Khark. At Khark all tracks converged and it was as if the race restarted but, the key difference was in the way those who have romped home read the winds from Khark to Bahrain. Just an extraordinary split of the fleet into two groups - separated by more than 100nm.
A tough race, a tricky race, won by three excellent SOLers! Bravo!

Magnus Olsson was one of the best-known and most liked of all ocean racers and tributes to him say it all. In memory of this remarkable sailor, SOLers have decided to race his mythical Quingdao-Rio leg of the 2008 Volvo Ocean Race. It will be 12519nm on VO70v4s!
