    CIAO Aaron !

Nearly nine months ago we left from Adelaide with strong commitment towards two precise objectives :

---- Honor your name and memory bringing you with us around your little house ( Australia ;) ) by giving your name to our boat.

---- Place your name forever on TOP of the ranking of this nine legs long adventure as Winner of the series.

Nine months later we can say :

    “Mission accomplished” !!!

and knowing well the amount of dedication and effort that we , together with the entire SOL community have put up for this achievement , everyone will understand our happiness and excitement.
What we really want now is to SHARE our joy and our tribute to you , young friend , with the entire SOL community , that bunch of passionate people who will never forget you .
As we have now entered Adelaide bay , we will sail the last few miles and hours of this long tribute changing the name of the boat to

    ALL 4 Aaron

virtually taking on board the full community , for us ALL together to pay our tribute to your memory.

And finally , we will SHARE this achievement with your loved family . After the finish line we will deliver this boat to your mother , for you to play with us forever.

CIAO Aaron …….As I promised nearly a year ago …..you are still very much with us all ..and it goes on ….

IMO #1 and #2 are not the answer , as we can neither stop , nor rewind the WX , and stopping the racing as if server would halt , would change the complete pic for the remaining 7 days , given different WX on each single moment of remaining sailing ....so ....

#3 is the only way ...assess impact on race if any boats demonstrates to have been highly damaged..... is where my idea above fits ....;)

as to minor damages that can anytime affect anyone we must live with the fact that SOL is internet constrained , as sailing is constrained by unpredictable external factors.

    ciao

Haida Gwaii 2024

We will end the second quarter of the ARCH competition with a 390nm race around the Haida Gwaii islands (literally "Islands of the Haida people"), also known as the Queen Charlotte Islands. This is an archipelago located on the northern Pacific coast of Canada. In SOL, we last raced on this route in 2012 and few people remember what happened there. Prepare your Riptide 50 well, it's going to be a lot of fun.

Newport Bermuda Race 2024

The 636-mile biennial Newport Bermuda Race is one of the oldest regularly scheduled ocean races, and with the Fastnet Race and the Sydney to Hobart Race, it is one of the three great classic races of the yachting world. Founded in 1906, this 53rd running of the Bermuda Race can again also be participated in online.
Entries are invited for one of the four divisions:
Double-Handed Division:
Jeanneau Sun Fast 3600
St. David's Lighthouse Division:
Santa Cruz 52
Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Division:
Judel Vrolijk 62
Finisterre Division:
Riptide 50
Details for each yacht are available in the ‘Particulars’ links below. As in real life, you can only sail one boat in one division, so choose your virtual yacht carefully, and because of the unusual (for SOL) 4-division nature of the event, please note results will not count towards any Sailonline rankings.
