Let me say that I believe I may have insulted a few members here. It shouldn't be an excuse but I'll use it anyway. I was drunk. Drunkenness has been the cause of quite a few of my embarrassing moments. SOL is my favorite game. I have a lot of respect for the guys who perform well and the guys like me who push on to the finish lines. So the point of this post is to apologize and say I'm sorry for anyone I offended. I hope to meet some of you folks in real life one day. Sometime in the next ten years I will run the Newport to Bermuda race again on my boat and hope to have a few beers in peace with my virtual friends here.

Yes I do apologize for that.......
but I do find it rather infuriating as you can probably tell.
    Sorry for cussing.
I apologize for lumping people into a group.

It certainly was with statements like this:

"When I first started soling I thought boats were playing follow the leader taking advantage of the good sailor's skills, but now I understand it's 5 or 10 guys sailing each others boats."

    That is utter crap.
Says you. Has anyone altered your course in the trans atlantic race? How about any of the past five races. I can say no one has ever helmed my boat other than myself in any race. Having a first mate is like taking steroids

    What a load of crap!!
Boats controlled by groups of people!!!
I think you both are in fantasy land.

Its people like you guy's that ruin this type of online experience for me.

I am wondering if I can be bothered renewing my SYC membership.
    Was that directed at me?

I sail solo. I sleep 8 hours and work about 10. When I first started soling I thought boats were playing follow the leader taking advantage of the good sailor's skills, but now I understand it's 5 or 10 guys sailing each others boats. Rest assured if I ever win a race. I will have won the race on my own.

Hello all this is my first post in the forum. I always wondered how some boats made perfect DC's every time and never missed a buoy. I feel a real accomplishment if I finish in the top 75 so it doesn't really affect me but is discouraging to know that the boats that have course corrections made by buddies are the top sailers in every race. I would do much better at this game if 18 of 24 hours in my day were not taken up with sleep and work. I love this game and compete in about every race. I check my boat breakfast, lunch, and all evening but my worst enemy has been weather change and beachings. It is a distinct advantage to have more than one player watching a boat particularly with this being a truly global community of SOL'ers. I reckon now I might not ever win a race.
