Ahoi Racers !

Since we hardly have Austrian
ocean races, it could be nice
to run the Ecker Cup 1000nm
race starting on 13th of October
2012. It is actually 1070nm this
time in two legs :

Leg 1 : Zadar in Croatia to
Kalamata in Greece, 550nm

Leg 2 : Kalamata to Alanya
in Turkey

It might even be possible
to buddy up with the race.

Since this is a "fun event"
for hobbyists on a timeframe,
real competitors are allowed
to use engine (hard to imagine,
I know). 1 engine hour equals 2
sailing hours..

Still I think if we use polar
of one of the bigger competing
boats we should be able to keep
up with the real fleet...

Background

My father will race our 40 feet
boat Lizza Forte in this race
and he would be pleased to use
SOL as additional resource for
racing..

As boat I could imagine TP52,
First 47.7 or maybe class 40.....

Hi stoerte - d'you think SOL's First 40.7v2 is comparable with Lizza Forte??

The course is in the draft October calendar (about to be published in the calendar forum) but we haven't picked a boat yet!

I'm happy to announce that Tias is allready creating a Lizza Forte Polar ! We will be able to sail the real boat. As well there will be a racetracker...

The first leg of this race is now available for preview. Please note that to make the finish line "work" SOL has had to introduce a waypoint into a race that, in reality, has no waypoints at all.

To preview the race (it will be open for a few days before being archived), just do the following:

Login as the sol boat:

USERNAME: sol
PASSWORD: sol

then click here

Sailonline are honoured and delighted to have been asked to partner an online first Roma per Tutti yacht race with organizing yacht club, Circolo Nautico Riva di Traiano . In real life, this will be the 33rd edition of this 540nm offshore race from Rome’s Riva di Traiano to the Aeolian Islands and back. Online, the race will not only be our first partnership with CN Riva di Traiano, but also the second race of our Magical Mediterranean series.
