YAY!! Space Coast!!! One of my favourite parts of Florida... probably 'cos it is home to KSC and I am an erstwhile space and shuttle geek!!

I will get this set up and we can see when it can be slotted into the calendar!!

Is this based on a real event?

:-)

OK, waypoints input.

Couple of questions.

1. Do you want this run as three short races at different times OR one race?

2. Have you a boat preference from the list of those currently set up in SOL?

I know there isn't a PHRF option in SOL. So I would like J/30's.
No, just one nonstop race is fine. Not long enough for separate "legs".

No not based on a real race.
We usually just do a windward-leeward from Jupiter Inlet, or a race to Palm beach Inlet or St. Lucie Inlet.

Maybe the next one I design will be a real race. Off to the plotting table...

Thanks

Howdy SJORA - race is set up and I am just waiting for the wx to come in (next US update is 1445utc) to check all looks good before letting you see it!

*********

All looks good to me... to view the race in SOL you just need to log in as the sol boat:

Username: sol
Password: sol

and then click here

Let me know what you think! If you are happy, then we will let others know its available for preview for a few days in case you and I have missed something that will make it a "better" SOL race.

:-)

I have now archived this. Let me know if you want me to open it again for you to check it.

btw

What is your SOL boatname? It seems odd for me to be talking to an organisation without any person identified with it!!

Rainbow,
The Reggatta looks good, I tried sailing it for a bit over the weekend. Thanks.

SJORA is St. Lucie - Jupiter Ocean Racing Association. We are a small group of sailors that get together informally in this area and sail and race off shore. We are by no means an official organization or association...yet. I am the creator/founder/Commodore/ Race Committee/ Fleet Captain etc etc.

I wouldn't mind being able to access all the races I have created and sail them.

Once a race has been checked as ready for sol-ing, it is archived until it is used to save load on the servers.

I am sure you have spent some time in the Race Calendar Forum and you will see that SOL tends to have calendars "fixed" a month or so in advance... so we will be scheduling your first race in April.

When I have a moment I will set up your third race so that you can see how it looks!

If you like, we could make the three races the SJORA series? Would that have any appeal?

:-)

Sounds good!

SJORA series sounds interesting.

We are actually trying to get out on the water atleast 1-2 times per month for races.
Have Quarterly Points series. April will start SJORA 2nd QTR Point Series.
I can continue creating races for the series.

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Samoa to Hawaii

The second race of our new series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones, takes us northward again up the Pacific Ocean, now from Samoa at 13.5 degrees South, across the Equator to Hawaii, famed for its breaking surf and active volcanoes, on the edge of the Tropic of Cancer at 19.5 degrees North. It’s 2300nm, so we’ll take our very steady Steinlager II. Race #1982

Beketov by Balloon 2026 - In Siberia

Way-back-when France and England, and Spain as well, were squabbling about who should control what of North America, only to lose the most of it to their own insurging colonists, their eastern European neighbour empire, Russia, was quietly assimilating vast, thinly nomadically populated territory of its own – Siberia! Amongst the many explorers and adventurers that served Russia so well in these conquests was the Cossack hetman Pyotr Beketov. Let’s pretend we’re he and eschewing horseback, let’s travel by balloon from Yekaterinberg to Krasnoyarsk – just a short 2000km (1100nm) section of the Trans-Siberian Express’ 9289km!

West Papua to Oregon 2026

Our next race in our Ocean Championships is the first of a series of great natural migrations we will track in 2026. The leatherback turtle is the most widely distributed marine reptile on planet Earth, and chooses to breed in warm tropical waters, but prefers to forage in more temperate habitats, travelling thousands and thousands of miles effortlessly annually to maintain this way of life. Our race will follow one of the typical trips of this turtle, from breeding grounds in the seas off West Papua to the coast of Oregon. It’s only 5900nm, so to keep up, but in comfort, we’ll follow in our Gunboat 90.
