...a true story that is... ;)
Great, Jepsom.
... And I did see the wx for Sweden. Our snow is only just blowing in right now.

Here's another one.

Cook Strait Jacket

There's a low blowing in from the West
And it's putting the fleet to a test
All chatting has ceased
Who's losing the least
is the sailor who read it the best
We're on a Roll to Cook

Salmon 20:18:
Some escape for now
their hurt will come
tomorrow

Mouthansar 20:34:
All the Skippers escaping the low
Are sufficiently aged to know
For every gain
There's similar pain
Once the going is once again slow

76Trombones 20:35:
Explorers feared the giant squid
Brave men trembled before William Kidd
No worries on SOL
Apart from the hole
But I'm struggling to not blame the...

Salmon 20:52:
As some wind does stay around
We still can have some fun
While nothing will be found
at tomorrows Cyclades Run

Salmon 21:03:
My earlier quest got fatally stuck
Adding a 5th line, no such luck
please forgive my abab cheat
I accept my own defeat
At limericks I really suck

New Masterpieces from 76Trombones

I, from my perch near the windward shroud
Watch my sails auto-reef think aloud:
"Here no matter how big the squall
It's no effort at all!
IRL my drive'd be already plowed"

A old salt dips hardtack in his chowder
Dreams of SOL as a place very much louder
A broadside or two
Would help with FlowsToo
Lunch'd smell good with a hint of black powder!

On Feeling Solo in SOL - Wherein a Famous sailor is Named

Trombones made a poem 10:30
Not even the least bit of dirty
Since then chat has died
All tongues are as tied
Is poetry simply too nerdy?

Not Alone - Just Disturbing Concentration

Flaxie 21:37:
Mouthansar, poetry in motion
Across the Southern Ocean
Please, We recognise you as the bard
But you should realise we are sailing hard
To reach the Antipodes

Another Distinguished Skipper Named

Boat 'africa' hails from Croatia
Advanced from 100th to chase ya
Shrewd Skipper is he
As we can all see
He will pass anyone who is lazier
A first attempt as we while away the hours in the Southern Ocean...

Fair winds as east we make our way
Poetry now is all we can say
We'll go to where the wind doth blow...
To where oh where no-one knows.
But soon to settle in some gorgeous bay...

Mouthansar sails a beautiful yot..
but where's he's from I know not
but checking out his flag I see..
it's a place not that far from me
Denmark now forget me not!
Mouthansar.. just read your note..
A, A, B, B, A is the rhyme
9-9-5-5 and 9 is the time
better try harder... sorreeee

I'll learn quick, I promise!

Rapallo to Nador 2026

Welcome to Liguria’s Rapallo, there where Zarathustra spoke - at length - to Nietzsche, for our first race of nine to celebrate all things Mediterranean - fickle winds, history and olive oil. A number of our races in this new Magical Mediterranean series will be partnership with famous real-life races, but this first race is pure fiction - 780nm in refurbed IMOCA 60s, past or through the Balearic Isles and on into the Alboran Sea, to a finish off Nador on the Maroc Mediterranean coast.

Red Eye - Melville Island PYOC 2026

Melville Island is the largest of the Tivi group opposite the port of Darwin in the Timor Sea. Tropically forested and thinly populated, not a lot goes on there, but let’s race around it anyway, lar- or starboard round, it’s a little more than 120nm, so, no matter where you are navigating from on the planet, you will be hard-pressed to complete the course aboard your J-80 in daylight hours!

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Guam to Ouvéa

The third race of our series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones takes us southeastward now down the Pacific, from Guam’s Apra Harbour at 13.5 degrees North, back across the Equator to the glorious New Caledonian resort island of Ouvéa, on the edge of the Tropic of Capricorn at 20.5 degrees South. It’s 2400nm, and there’s more than a few other islands in the way, so mind where you go in your Ocean 50s. Race #1981
