I really like the idea of several different ships with different polars, and you sail the one you pick. I realize this might require too large a server load, but as you hint, an ocean run could update at 5 minute intervals. One thing I do suggest is than all boats Update at the same intervals and together. In this multi-ship idea all of each identical ship choice could update together, separate from the other chosen ships.
If it breaks, it's not strong enough--if it doesn't, it's too heavy.

Thanks for the further suggestions.

Please would you also specifically comment on the choice I mention in the first post which will shape the race calendar to the end of the year and beyond.

Namely EITHER the EOKD (round the world's five oceans in five separate legs running weeks after an IRL race doing the same thing) OR some independent ocean races leading to a mirror of an IRL solo non-stop round-the-world starting end December (which can be tracked in real-time and will have press coverage).


From responses thus far,generally, it would seem that the "OR" option is preferred.

This month’s TIMED race takes us to the shallow waters of Palk Bay located between India and Sri Lanka. Sail the impressive MC 38 around a roughly 140 nm course through two narrow channels before returning to the start/finish line in Jaffna.

The British Isles Circumnavigation is here! Inviting skippers to take on an epic 1,720nm clockwise voyage around Britain and Ireland!
