A Prodigious Effort

WOW! In the short period of time I have been here, this is the most expansive and complete "tour" of a race ever created. Amazingly well done AC505!!!!

Hawk... this will be an ENTIRE semester of learning for your class!!

As I have opined before, you don't get this kind of involvement, interest, effort, knowledge and community on ANY other sailing site. Those are games. We are SOL!

Right ShamPir ;-) Fantastic interesting - this is how a SOL-race must be :-)
Something for those interested in cartography...the famous Ottoman Admiral Piri Reis Map of 1513. Quite a controversy surrounds the Map. Hope you'll find it interesting.

Just realized why there are marks on the east end of Lesvos (Lesbos) and Samos Islands. AC505 didn't put them to inflict more torture (after the Bosphorus [Istanbul Bogazi] and the Dardanelles). It is because they are Greek Islands and it is a race around Turkey. Khlos is also Greek but it is not likely that anyone would go west of it between Lesvos and Samos.

These Islands also have very interesting history.

AC 505, thanks for a wonderful race and guide.

:-)
Of course that theory doesn't explain the mark on Bozcaada. So maybe there was a wee bit of Sadism at play.

;-)
Capt. Jack, your theories are correct...however besides a bit of sadism, Bozcaada is worth visiting as lately it has become famous with its wines and it is like an environmental lab. Like California:)) Cheers.
Just bringing this brilliant guided tour back to the top!!

None so blind
Sumela (Greek Orthodox) Monastery is situated in Macka, Trabzon - which we past by yesterday - built 1600 years ago 1300 m above sea level...a difficult task!

SOL's Bermuda Triangle TIMED Race 2023
Inspired by the America’s Cup racing in Bermuda, this is a fun triangular course of 90nm, which we originally raced with psail and bonkhoot’s collaborative polar for the AC72 foiling catamaran. Having tried the course in the more pedestrian Open 60 in 2021, this year we return to the AC72, in fact to the MODIFIED AC72v2, modified to remove the inconsistencies that obtained from the original interpolation of the limited data issued by the AC 2003 Principal Race Officer in connection with penalties determination. This is a TIMED race, which means you get multiple chances to try out the ramifications of the revisions. Be careful though, the polar remains a handling challenge with major stall-out potential!
