Looks like great fun - a 24-48 hour race? Someone want to take a crack at dressing it up in SOL-format?

Keep them coming!
Welcome to a slalom through the beautiful Channel Islands off the sunny Southern California coast. Head west from San Diego in your Catalina 470 and skirt the west side of San Clemente Island; turn northeast and visit Avalon and Two Harbors on Santa Catalina Island; don’t tarry long or you’ll miss the turn west to Santa Barbara and San Nicolas Islands. Soon it will be time for a run north to Channel Islands National Park. Go around Anacapa Island, through the Anacapa Passage, skirt the south side of Santa Cruz Island, through the Santa Cruz Channel, along the north side of Santa Rosa island, and finally around San Miguel Island. We’ll finish up in Santa Barbara where we’ll join Macavity on Stearns Wharf and watch the sun dip into the Pacific Ocean with a tasty beverage in hand.

Nice race.

Just one remark. The proposed boat is the Catalina 470. I do not think that SailOnline already has its polars.

Given the time constraints of Jakob and Kalle, I suggest to use only existing polars for the time being. The choice is wide enough:

Seems reasonable!

We do have a nice selection of boats in the system - including a bunch that don't get as much time on the water. Maybe Jakob can chime in on this?

I'm happy to help prepare formatted polars for new boats if it's something that we'd like. I do enjoy seeing how the different boats behave, and it can give some interesting local flavour to races.

Polar for Catalina 470 attached.

Polars well prepared like that is absolutely NO problem for me to implement. :-) You people are fantastic!!

If it's no trouble for Jakob, it's no trouble for me either.

I have a spreadsheet that builds that format from handicap tables, which for our purposes means that we have access to any boat that has ever been measured under IMS/ORC. 1000's of polars from folkboats to the latest 150' Wally-yacht.

Will try to clean it up and post, but until then, just ask! :-)
I was going to ask if you'd used the handicaps to get the polars. I'll be interested to see how that works when you clean up your spreadsheet.
i'd like to nominate a name change given the lazy boat, and the wondering route...

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Baia de l'Oiseau to Carnarvon

How ever shall I return to report with clarity to my Great Sultan – asked Sinbad. It needs be told this island and all its fables shall be expunged from the annals of every thousand and one night. The wind howls – and sun be none (it’s Winter, Sin’bro, ed.) – and all days from the west, but let’s launch anyway and see if we can work our SOL Balloon north as the days pass aiming for Asthralaya, where The Mahabharata tells the ancients once tested mighty weapons, about a quarter and a million qasbah away (2500nm, ed.), perhaps one month.
