A rankin is mas justly if to the winner of every race the same number of points is granted that of ships registered in the same one, to 2 º =numero of registered ships less one .......
It is a way of compensating the long races, since in these more ships registered.

I think DNS should be excluded.

Beating other starters is what really matters!

People who sail over the edge of the world, should fall off and score NIL points. Obviously failed to post a lookout, failed to organise their crew into a workable watch system and failed to read the traditional warnings on the edges of the charts:

"Beyound here lives sea monsters and dragons"

"Un-explored"

or "Not Surveyed".

Christopher Columbus had pictures of ships falling off the edge of his charts.

DNF must count as beaten.

The RRS Low Point scoring system does not differentiate between fleet sizes.
If it breaks, it's not strong enough!
Why do I see Rio de Janeiro inport Race in my ranking score? Future races should not affect the ranking in any way.

And why does it have 53 points? Is it a number of registered boats at some point in time?

Also, races I didn't participate should not affect my overall ranking. For example, I never attended Mistli's BBQ, but it adds me 490 points. For a dedicated set of races - e.g. VOR - a missed leg may add penalty points, but that should be the same for overall SYC ranking.

Previous ranking was much more straightforward.
We are still tweaking this rankings, and changes to the rankings are done in spare time atm. Thank you for all the good feedback. Please give us some time to inlcude the comments and tweak it.
I am a ex-admin of SOL who joins in from time to time.
I fixed the bug which caused practice runs to be ranked.
Looks much better now Kalle. Nice one.
Trev.
When looking at the list, perhaps we need an extra column(s).

Top 10 of last 15 races

Top 10 Races that boats sailed (Excludes DNS races)

Number of boats that ENTERED

Number of boats that STARTED

Number of FINISHERS

DATE

Fastest Time

Top 10% finishers Average Time

Perhaps the right hand banner "RACES" should disappear when looking at rankings.

Top ten boats should have POINTS and LINKS to see their score details.

If it breaks, it's not strong enough!
I see there may be another bug - everyone's score shows the current race as counting - surely the points don't count until after the race??? It says "Sailonline Ocean Race, Leg 6 DNF 84" or similar.
Does the ranking works? There is 10 of 13 races counted. Cant see Rio In-port.

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
