2021-06-28 11:30:08 - VINLAND RALLY 2021 Results
The results for the VINLAND RALLY have been calculated and are available in the attached pdf. The Vinland results have been split into four categories:

• Fastest time per class based on elapsed time
• Fasted time overall based on corrected time
• Highest average speed per class based on elapsed time
• Highest average speed overall based on corrected time

Elapsed time is recorded only when the boat is sailing, that is, a command of anything other than twa 0 has been issued. As soon as a twa 0 is received (either from the user or as a result of a BBQ), the clock stops. Once a command other than twa 0 is received, the clock starts again.

For corrected time, the corrections have been based on the PHRF New England fleet performance handicaps. This gives the Passport a 138 second per mile deduction from the elapsed time. The Santa Cruz 52 has a 21 seconds per mile addition to the elapsed time. The correction is then calculated on the total distance sailed. For example, if the SC52 sailed 1000nm, it would have 21 x 1000 = 21,000 seconds added to the elapsed time.

The average speed is calculated by dividing the distance sailed by the elapsed or corrected time.
