AHOY THERE YE LILY LIVERED SWABS!

Sailonline will shortly be running its annual rum race through the Caribbean. Run in proximity to International Talk Like a Pirate Day (Sept 19) it has become a tradition for SYC Members to have the option of changing their normal SOL boat names just within this one race to one influenced by the pirate theme.

All requests for such changes will only be actioned if posted in this thread and will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.

PLEASE DO CHECK THE 2013 LIST below before submitting a request to ensure that you aren't requesting a name already taken by someone else before you!

You are, of course, pretty much free to choose any name you like but we do reserve the right to refuse offensive or inappropriate names, if chosen.

Please note that the change of boatname just within this one race has no impact on your login credentials nor on your SYC rankings.

All changes will be made as soon as they are listed here and as soon after you are registered in the race as possible. The race will open for practice, as usual, a few days before Race Start (Thursday, 12 September at 1800utc).

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Carnarvon to Dondra


From here, our home in Bharatavarṣa is now north west of us – said Sinbad to his fellow balloonists. Perhaps we can ride the wind first further north, and then catch the winds that every year bring the rain, perhaps not. It’s 2600nm and we could be aloft awhile, so, Master el-Quarters, victuals only, no sandbags, provisioning the giant hamper. It will be not a picnic!
