Board » Flag Officers » Race proposals » Lac Manicouagan

Hi,

I think I have a proposition for a totally virtual race.
It could take place in the north of Quebec, on Manicouagan reservoir.
Why here? For me, because it's a very particular place on our planet. It's the place where a huge meteor has fallen, perhaps the one which has caused the extinction of dinosaurs.
Of course it's not really a famous sailing place, but why not?
Perhaps it could take place during "l'été Indien", so at the end of septembre or in octobre. Later it could be a bit frozen....
So, it's just a proposal and I will not be hurted if it's not considered as a good one.

I added a file with the polars of the Platu 25 as I have thought that it could be a good one for this race...

I can't believe I didn't see this until now... I am so sorry.. this would be a good race for sure!

:-)

I need to update the list of proposed but unraced races I think!
Salut cirrus!

Your race is now set up and ready for preview.

Please note that the boat chosen for now is Steinlager 2 as I am waiting on the new polar to be set up! Once the new polar is in the database then the boat choice will change.

To preview the race you need to log in as the sol boat:

Hope you like how it looks!
The Platu polar has now been uploaded into the database so it has now been selected for this race!

:-)
Hi RC,

and thanks for everything..!!

Now, I will try to find the time to try the race....
The trace seems to be good, but not so easy according to winds direction.
It will be fun sailing a new polar... even on such a tricky race!!

:-)
Have been racing against Platu 25 IRL with way slower boat beating without handicapp ;) But very nice boat nice we have it in Boathouse now ..

BTW it's called Farr 25 nowadays

Edit: Sorry it was Smo as sol

As this race has been open for preview for a little while, I am now going to archive it until we are ready to race it!

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
