  • Re: Game Feature Suggestions
    Board » General Discussion
I'm a many Players virtual skipper and that's the second race I do on sailonline. I have some suggestions :
the game is really well made. especially the maps are amazingly precise and the winds too. The constant evolution of the winds is more realistic.
Interface is not easy at the beginning (especially for someone who doesn't speak english) but, after reading the PDF, everything becomes easier and I consider the interface very good.
    What lacks the game?
Better colors. The colors are really, really horrible. And colors are never the same (why?). The sea should be blue and the continents not that horrible green. It's much more than a minor detail.
What makes the success of MP : simple, beautiful and convivial.
The public chat is good but you should have a private chat, like MP.
Sometimes you have some graphical bugs : horizontal lines appear on the map, especialy when zooming.
Choice of the sails would add some difficulty, and some pleasure.
You made the choice of putting every ship on the map. Sometimes it's to much. A system of favourites could be a good idea. You could display no boat, your favourites, all the boats.
And last thing : is the wheather the real actual wheather? A good idea, to avoid people of using routing softwares, would to have a different meteo of actual meteo. Real, but from last year, for example.
I feel a great potential in your game and I think it could be the better with some minor improvements.

That's surely the only explanation : a weather update.
    But I feel very frustrated.
I had a good position and now I'm back in the 600's.
Thanks to everybody for the answers.

If you let your boat sail on auto for several days you will likely not sail very optimal.?
I'm not completely stupid. I programmed my change for the moment where the boat was (predicted) over the buoy. And today I see that the boat changed before the buoy. How is it possible? The delay was something like 3.50 hour. For me it's 3h 30 mn. Right? I'm absolutely certain I didn't make any mistake. So the previsions are not reliable.Or did I make a delay error?

    I'm very disapointed.
    I'm doing the Volvo.
Yesterday I programmed a course change for a few hours later after the buoy. It was supposed to be good. And today I see that my boat changed its course BEFORE the buoy. How is it possible? Can't we trust the game?
If the previsions (position at a given time)given by the game are not reliable you should say it.

New Ice Age 2026 - Longyearbyen to Browerville

Although we have by no means exhausted the possibilities of ice boating on lakes at high latitudes or high altitudes, it was noticeable that as our 2025 Series progressed, there were calls from time to time for longer-distance challenges, and so in response to these calls we will pretend that global warming has reversed and as a result the coastal waters of Antarctica and Russia and Canada have fully (and smoothly!) frozen over offering us the possibility of a 4-race New Ice Age series in our trusted no-PL DN machines. Our first leg takes us 2600nm from Svalbard’s Longyearbyen east to North Alaska’s Browerville. You’ll be a few days on the ice, so dress warmly and take some provisions; go!

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Robinson Crusoe to Galapagos

Welcome to our first race of a new series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones, this first race taking you north from south of the Tropic of Capricorn to the Equator-straddling Galapagos, home of magical iguanas and other exotic fauna (but no mythical kings, Dory) Departing from the island where in 1704 adventurer Alexander Selkirk inspired Daniel Defoe to write the best-seller "The Life and Adventures of Robinson Crusoe", by debarking off the unsound "HMS Cinque Ports", four months before she foundered off the coast of present-day Colombia, we will sail the 2200nm in our decidedly sounder and faster than the " Cinque Ports",
