  • Bluewater router
    Board » Technical Discussion
Long time ago I used Bluewater for routing and Brainaids NMEAproxy to get my boats position over tcp/ip. Since Bluewater only used serial ports for input I used NavMonPc to send data to a virtual serial port.
Somewhat later I used HW VSP3s.exe to create that virtual serial port and no longer needed Navmon.

    How things have changed.
In the latest BWR I fill at the tools>instrumentmanager one of the NMEA fields wit 127.0.0.1 and BWR gets boat position directly from brainaids NMEAproxy which I download from brainaids toolbox.

    Also using AGL works well.
Only the weather AGL downloads I can not use in BWR. For that I connect to brainaids toolbox and download the weather from that source.

I bought a PC, now what?
    Maybe start with reading:
"How to Install AGL 14 for Windows.pdf"?

Interesting concept. im new here and was wondering if this sim takes water/ocean currents into account? also does it cover the Caspian Sea? Thanks?
    Caspian Chilov Chiller 2019 (25NM)
    No water/ocean currents.
    I found this raceinfo:

    I uninstalled java.
(If you do need java for something else then do not uninstall it. No conflict with suggested download)
    I downloaded
    OpenWebStart windows-x64 1 6 0.exe
    from openwebstart.com/download/ and installed it.
With me now brainaids nmea's are working.

OpenWebStart windows comes with sort of own build-in java.

Have some patience and wait till openwebstart downloads app from brainaid's. (part of the waitingtime is with every start openwebstart checks for updates.)

    Hello SKOVSER
I added a third picture but it was not uploaded, so here it is.
All looks good. I assume the three dots after password: in Screenprint_2022-11-12_12.23.38.png are not your password. Here you should enter the same password you use to login to sailonline.

growl... now with me now nothing is happening neither. Even the login that worked a week ago does not work now !!

will look further into it. Not very hopeful I am.

For some reason I can't upload screenshots of the login page .....
    But it looks quite normal.

I can send screenshots by mail if it's OK with you?

    You could try
    www-neogaz-com/files/java/
    (Replace - with .)
    And there choose jre-7u80-windows-x64.exe
(I checked it on virus and file was ok.)

    official oracle site:
    www-oracle-com/uk/java/technologies/javase/javase7-archive-downloads.html
and scroll down. They will ask you to make an account on oracle first.
replace - before and after oracle with .

download java (jre) 7 (32bit or 64bit dependent on your windows/operating system version)
    uninstall your current java
    install java 7

set java security settings to medium (security tab)
add 'http://sol.brainaid.de/sailonline/toolbox/' to 'exception site list' (on security tab too)

    Now everything should work.

    @kipper
I had attached some text with, at the end, the content of a batch file that would set the environment variables ag14installdir and ag14version correctly whereever you would have installed AGL.

I removed the attachment. I should not attach executable things? Something like that.

Sinbad Braves the Bay of Bengal 2023
“Sinbad, you sorry sailor, why have you not told me of this great sea, this giant bay, stretching hundreds of thousands of qasbah east of Al-Hindi to fabled lands where tea and rice and rubber is abundant?” and Sinbad replied “Ahh, umm, shall I go have a look. May I take the Judel Vrolijk 62 again, it’s going to be a long voyage, perhaps a million and one half qasbah (c 3000nm)? I’ll start in Chittagong and follow the coast to the southern tip of the Hindus’ land, round Serendip, head east into the vastness of the seas, and if I’m lucky (no pun intended, oh Mighty One) I shall find land again and then head north and see where I end up”. “Fair winds, Sinbad”, said the Sultan.

Maryland to Alaska 2023
Welcome to this September edition of 2023 OCCH. This route was first sailed in 2020. At the time it was inspired by Matt Rutherford's single-handed Red Dot Expedition around the Americas in 2012, SOLer Renegade proposing a half-around from Maryland over the North into the Pacific and back through the Panama Canal, in 5 legs, 5 years later. Leg 2 across the North West Passage proved to be particularly challenging and so to create a proper Ocean Race, SRC combined Leg 2 with Leg 1 to give you a race of at least 4000nm from Maryland to Alaska, now to be sailed in our magnificent Archer 78.
