Installed the tarball from java and installed it to /usr/java (as root) and now works, but still won't communicate the data to qtVlm. Hmm...

When I try to run it from Firefox, it opens IcedTea, then fails in an identical way to downloading it and using javaws from the terminal. Using Chrome clicking on the link sends me to java.com.

Hate to jump in on this, but I'm getting an error on running the NMEA Proxy too.

Running into an error on unsigned jars.
    (Full error msg: http://pastebin.com/6JNr0BAa )

Running Linux Mint, get the same error if I run as user or super user (sudo).

Hopefully not too much of a drift - sorry if it is.

    Point of clarification please m'lud.

In the description, the boat type is Super Maxi 100, and the download is for VO70v4.

I presume we shall take the Volvo?

More very useful posts as ever: thanks for running this, chaps.

Is this the place to post requests for future articles? (If not, then ignore the rest of this...)

In the excellent intro to qtvlm, the 'final word' section refers to the need for interpretation of the routing created. I was wondering if there could be a follow-up to this guide, showing what is meant by this, what to be looking for, what potential traps blindly following a routing may lead one into, etc.

    Many thanks!

I'm getting a 404 for the NOR for this race from the home page. Anyone else?

The Vineyard Race 2025

For the first time since first hosting a virtual Vineyard in cooperation with Long Island's Stamford Yacht Club back in 2010, due to an operational calendaring error, Sailonline has missed the start of the real life race, the USA’s Labor Day weekend this year unusually falling across the turn of August. Silly SOL! So, a week late please join us anyway for a virtual rerun of Stamford’s iconic annual overnighter from their club line out the sound to Buzzard's Bay Light near Martha's Vineyard Island and back again, leaving Block Island to starboard. This year, Sailonline is making its magic MC 38 available to competitors, a race boat with a quirky polar that will require you to stay wide awake as you speed around the c 250 nm course, in rockstar style!
