    The sailonline community are a fine helpfull friendly group of people from around the globe, in many cases its gone way past online friendship and turned into personal friendship and ship mates in real life races and pleasure sailing. This brings me to the reason for this post.

    What would you never have had the chance to do without sailonline.

    For me theres a long list of things, one that springs to my mind is, I would never have woke from a deep sleep with Gilles foot under my nose :-), Strange but true.....

    Anyone like to share there (would never have done's) with us ???

    Thanks hmm for clearing that for me, only I finished Lake Winnebago race 4 am Sunday morning and the race closed Monday but SYC still does not show these results, I hate to complain but it keeps happening, I know its not that important but its the first time I have had a shot at getting high up the ranks. Sorry for being a pain.

    Hi, Im sure one or two of the committee are getting bored of my same question. But I still do not understand the update of the SYC ranking.A couple of people say it updates 24hours after race first finisher someone else said after race close. Please will you clarify how and when it updates. Thanks.

Welcome to Spain for our first sprint of Q4. This is a traditional 20 NM local race around Huelva in SW Spain. Chances are a quick circumnavigation will involve some upwind work weaving your way round the mud flats of the upper reaches of the Huelva delta in our Fox 9.50. Fair winds!

Camel or Balloon - Khartoum to N'Djamena


As there is a lull in the calendar, your PRO has decided to risk an experiment – a balloon race over land, using a workaround to eliminate the recognition of water/land transitions. If it fails, the server may crash, and we abandon PDQ, hopefully after leg 7 of the ABS race to Suez has been decided, and before the start of the 1st OCC of Q4. Camel or Balloon – c 1000 nm from a field on the north bank of the Blue Nile at Khartoum to a field on the north bank of the Chari River at N'Djamena!

Africa by Sea 2025 - Mogadishu to Suez


Nearly there; only 2500nm to go, round the Horn and up the Red Sea to Suez into what will more than likely be more headwinds for this sixth leg of our African circumnavigation, to be followed in September by a final sneaky dash up the canal back to where we started all those months ago. We’ll be sailing a not entirely appropriate-for-upwind-work 60ft Trimaran!
