Incognito, that's very much how I feel. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I thanked 76T on his blog but I want to thank him here too. Very interesting blog article by the way.

I have seen a lot of talk on the chat line about computerized routers. I'm curious as to what percentage of the leaders use them. Is a router something I simply must have to think of winning one of these races? I have placed as high as 21 without one but don't want to be at an unfair advantage.

Also, just how much difference do they make? I've heard one sailor here estimate his finish time with a router to within 3 seconds of his actual finish.

My guess is that a router will give you ideas you can build on. I also would expect one to be extremely useful when you need to be away from the race for any long period of time. Other than that, just how essential are they? Am I at a disadvantage without one?

When I signed up for SOL, I used JeffB as my user name. I would like to have my boat name be Laughing Sally. Can someone help me out?

Also, is there a way to run this game from my Blackberry? I would be happy to donate to SOL if that were possible. I may donate anyway, however, after I've tried the game out.

I am a veteran of Virtual Regatta and have been told that this would be far more to my liking. To start with the Chicago to Mackinac race would be great since I've sailed that for real several times.

    Thank You

The Vineyard Race 2025

For the first time since first hosting a virtual Vineyard in cooperation with Long Island's Stamford Yacht Club back in 2010, due to an operational calendaring error, Sailonline has missed the start of the real life race, the USA’s Labor Day weekend this year unusually falling across the turn of August. Silly SOL! So, a week late please join us anyway for a virtual rerun of Stamford’s iconic annual overnighter from their club line out the sound to Buzzard's Bay Light near Martha's Vineyard Island and back again, leaving Block Island to starboard. This year, Sailonline is making its magic MC 38 available to competitors, a race boat with a quirky polar that will require you to stay wide awake as you speed around the c 250 nm course, in rockstar style!
