    Hi SOL friends
I did update my document for comparison of virtual sailing sites with the new knowledge on the SOL beta player. see https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VgeYoRS3o2-pkfOuuAgRk8F3i7kDltXzE-sGjAZ9ONE/edit

Sail on , fair winds and take care for fishing boats at the Portuguese coast :)

    hi Sol friends

thanks for all information on the revised SOL player. I have missed this complete.

Now I found the manual for the Beta and with a quick screening saw some very interesting improvements. I am now sailing onthe Lake and hope to apply the new features.
I will adjust in a positive way my comparison report but this weekend is a little busy with Vendee start and the normal ongoing stuff.
fair winds and I did rate SOL already 2nd in my ranking based on the older player. :)

    Hi RainbowChaser.

I played SOL some year back, I made the comparison somewhere in June2012.
I will make the changes you indicated, as the development of SOL has continued, maybe sail a race as then you learn the features the best.

No SOL is not the only site where players can make their own races or cruises. It happens a lot in LiveSkipper; the LS challenges are continuous available and allow groups to start in their own time and decide their own route. I have also in VORG2012 participated in alternative routes, but that lastest only as long as a leg lasted. In VR, I understand that groups of players also organise their own races/ cruises. So it seems that there is a need for some own organisation of race/ or cruises by players.
Thanks for your comments that can only improve my comparison and as volonteers, I am even more impressed by your virtual SOL player. ard.

Good to see that SOL is sailing around the world in company of so many other virtual sailors :)

Mr. Misterqu are you the misterqu sailing alongside me in LiveSkipper?

Neuroman, I like to set up a discussion on your statement "SOL is always the best". I have done a comparison of 4 virtual sailing games, SOL among them and SOL has some positive points as other games have. My document is available in my blog http://paradise49.blogspot.com/ under TAB "virtual sailing"
    fair winds :)

    Hi sol friends
I noticed that the VendeeGlobe will start soon, 10th November.
I don't see anything like it in the SOL November calender.

Does SOL has a plan for a similar sailing race around the globe?

Haida Gwaii 2024

We will end the second quarter of the ARCH competition with a 390nm race around the Haida Gwaii islands (literally "Islands of the Haida people"), also known as the Queen Charlotte Islands. This is an archipelago located on the northern Pacific coast of Canada. In SOL, we last raced on this route in 2012 and few people remember what happened there. Prepare your Riptide 50 well, it's going to be a lot of fun.

Newport Bermuda Race 2024

The 636-mile biennial Newport Bermuda Race is one of the oldest regularly scheduled ocean races, and with the Fastnet Race and the Sydney to Hobart Race, it is one of the three great classic races of the yachting world. Founded in 1906, this 53rd running of the Bermuda Race can again also be participated in online.
Entries are invited for one of the four divisions:
Double-Handed Division:
Jeanneau Sun Fast 3600
St. David's Lighthouse Division:
Santa Cruz 52
Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Division:
Judel Vrolijk 62
Finisterre Division:
Riptide 50
Details for each yacht are available in the ‘Particulars’ links below. As in real life, you can only sail one boat in one division, so choose your virtual yacht carefully, and because of the unusual (for SOL) 4-division nature of the event, please note results will not count towards any Sailonline rankings.
