Post annotated by RainbowChaser :
This thread was moved from the category Races.
The Three Kings Offshore Race is a 500 nautical mile challenge from Auckland (Orakei) up and around the Three Kings Islands and then back to Auckland finishing where you started. The Three Kings Islands provide some of the worlds best diving and fishing locations (although hopefully you won’t be fishing too much during the race, or diving for that matter) and is just a beautiful, yet rugged place that is a must see you anyone who loves the ocean

Our nzlyachtyakka will be doing the real race 2 handed on Promise.
Note that the real race is organised by RAYC. I have not contacted them about following them on SOL.

Sorry, posted in wrong place. Should have been in race proposals.

Are we able to move the thread?
Hi Scotsman - only just saw this so have moved the thread, as requested.

Do you have dates for the IRL race? and... if you have contacts at RAYC (I only have an email from when we ran the Sail Noumea) please feel free to contact them! A buddy-up would be great :-)
1000 NZST 21 Feb (2100z 20 Feb)

By the way, I star on their home page. The yacht with sail number 4172 (Farrago II), I'm on the main!
Email sent to Suellen with cc to the general email address (I know she can be busy)!

Cross fingers/paws we get a response... then I can point her in your direction, Scotsman, and vice versa,in case of any local or other issues that need to be sorted between us :-)

Hope that's OK?
We need to pick a boat-type... ?Young 11(mod) or something else? What will be representative of the IRL fleet, d'you think?
Farr 38 / Farr 11.6 closer in speed to yy. Don't think we have a polar for a Stewart 34.
Farr 38 it is.

Got the NOR from RAYC website and have the race pretty much all set up.

I am adding in Cape Rodney and North Cape on the way there and back just to keep the sailing line pretty much offshore (rather than cutting across the North Island!).

Its looking good and I will post a "sneak preview" link after we have this afternoon's WX update, as at the mo the New Zealand WX chart is too small (last used for a Hauraki Gulf race).

Once you see the race, feel free to propose modifications as always!

:-D

No word (yet) from Suellen at RAYC but I live in hope.. it is a month away after all!
