I'm not able to load SOL on one of my computers. Running on IE8. I've checked that the latest version of flash is installed. SOL opens but does not load wx or boats. Hangs at downloading wx.

Any ideas?
This has come up before although I can't off the top of my head give you the threads here that apply but there are several.

The client not initializing or Wx not finishing after a reasonable time can be a symptom of a "Limbo" state caused by either not maintaining a singular IP address recognized by the server or having some other details compromised held by cookies or Log in session status.

Not usually Flash related.

General steps which are easy to do and can be a quick remedy include:

1. Log out from the front page of SOL
2. Clear browser cache
3. Remove all SOL cookies on that browser
4. Disconnect from internet
5. Reboot computer
6. Start a new internet connection

Now start over by Logging in to your SOL account and report progress

The IP address issue can also be a result of how your ISP handles their IP address allocations or the path between you & SOL such as proxies and the like.

Cleared browser history and saved flash info. Same problem. Having same trouble with beta and older version. I noticed that IE8 has different flash settings compared to other browsers, maybe older version required?

Anyone else having trouble with IE8 and SOL?

Which Race are you talking about.I cant see you in any race?????
Scot, did you sort out your problems loading on windows 8??
I wrote regularly and 'I was in fifth place in the standings until last night, today I am still at the port give me an explanation?

I assume you mean the Simonstown to St Helena race? I believe that you were 5th before the real race started at 2012-12-22 09:00 (UTC). All races are in practice mode couple of days before the start where you can sail around the course and otherwise learn the boat polar.

1 hour before the race start the boats will be returned to the starting point so that all boats start at the same time. If you are not online at the start time, you can start your boat by setting a delayed command within this 1 hour starting period and the sailing engine will start automatically sailing your boat.
Kz, not loaded w8 yet. The problem disappeared after a few days, not sure why. Maybe a general windows update cleared the problem. One of those weird issues.
Sorry Scot, just read your post again,it was IE8 not windows 8 you has a problem with.I shouldnt read posts when tired.

Red Eye - Frisian Isles Trophy 2025

For our final “Red Eye” race, we invite you to cross the Noord Zee to the Wadden Zee, where a 160nm course around a few sandy islands raced on SOL only once before in 2010 awaits you. We don’t have a replica of Erskine Childers’ Dulcibella in our boathouse, and in any case if we took her out, we might well contract more than one “Red Eye”, so instead we’ll race our very own riddle of the sands in Farr 400s!

Mistli's Birthday BBQ Race 2025

Welcome to one of Sailonline's great traditions - the ofttimes slightly untimely celebration of SOLer Mistli's birthday on November 1, by way of a tricky race through the Stockholm Archipelago. To match the day that’s in it, this year correctly, we are providing you with a fleet of sleek 11 metre 1-designs (get it?) to slice through these (at least) 61.5nm of SLI-infested waters, and give you a fair chance that there will still be some beer left by the time you moor up by the jetty at Trosa!

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Carnarvon to Dondra

From here, our home in Bharatavarṣa is now north west of us – said Sinbad to his fellow balloonists. Perhaps we can ride the wind first further north, and then catch the winds that every year bring the rain, perhaps not. It’s 2600nm and we could be aloft awhile, so, Master el-Quarters, victuals only, no sandbags, provisioning the giant hamper. It will be not a picnic!
