In the interim between this new client first appearing, being taken down, and now replaced and (it seems) accessible to all, I added map zoom on mouse wheel. You can also hold SHIFT to zoom faster...

Seems like Shift Key + mouse wheel goes backwards and forwards in browsing history (in both IE and Firefox) by default.
At least if you have zoomed out (and got back to your home page) you can zoom in again to get to SOL...

Only other comment - Mind blowingly good look and feel to the application.. excellent.. amazing..

I just hook into the Flash support for mouse wheel, so things may vary depending on browser - I don't have all browsers to test on

One thing I may have forgotten to mention about the new client:
The mouse coord information at map top right is now automatically updated.
So, if you use the arrow keys to move the weather slider, you can 'park' the mouse at some point and the data will update as the slider moves
It also updates every time new data is received for your boat - so the distance and bearing values will change. This can be quite handy when approaching a mark or headland to round, as you can 'park' the mouse over the location of manoeuvre and see the distance counting down with each boat update...

Can anyone say why i can't use the beta client now, IE8, all i get is a blank screen
It is working fine for me in IE8... Im not sure what to suggest other than a cache purge and reload

cheers AG, got home logged in and no problems, except for seeing where i am. perhaps its saying i shouldn't be doing it at work. cleared the cache but it didn't ask for a reload, will have another play tomorrow
Your work place could have some net restrictions or even block Flash applications altogether

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
