RC, i just talked with Pocobueno and asked him how the finish time is calculated and he couldnt answer my question.
We both want to know:
How do you calculate the finishtime ?

Keep on going with your encouragement :)
HappyHour - I am not quite sure what you mean by calculating a finish time? We finish the practice race when we cross the line.

If you log in through another browser as the sol boat (username:sol and password: sol) then you can see the boats crossing the line independently from the view you get from your own boat.

If you mean how do I work out a roughly 2hr practice race then there is no formula (which is why I seem to get it wrong quite often). If someone were to use a router and run the course based on forecast winds then I imagine it could be worked out.

I just figure the best speed the boat can do in each direction and then make a course to fit as best I can :-)

All very rudimentary!!

Hope this helps.
"We finish the practice race when we cross the line."

Sure, but how do you know which boat crosses the line at first, second, ...
Is it just the browser view or have you access to more exactly server datas. Its just a technical question.
Hello RC !
When boats are very close to each other , due to different screen update-times of the different boats, the ranking on screen changes with every screen update in my browser.
So i am lucky when my boat crosses the line due to matching screen update-time as first.
Very difficult then to decide who's the winner

Hope you can understand what I mean.
Kind Regards Poco.

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
