There will be Practice Racing on the Victoria-Maui course, at times and courses to be determined.

As always, these are informal races and open to all, and you can join if progress if need be.

With the Kiel race starting tomorrow, the earliest Practice Race would be 1800z Sunday, starting at the official race Start point.

Details will be posted on the Vic-Maui Chat, and also here.

Don't sail too far away so you can do some short races with us!

rc:stoert:news: would this be a valid practice race positioning for two mark boats, if winds stay the same as predictor, only probably 4-5knots wind next couple of days....
start of practice: race start.
leave to port mark 1 at position..48.377...-123.302..
leave to port or jump sli at position..48.424...-123.738..
leave to port mark 2 at position..48.501...-123.264..
to finish headland at postion..48.498...-123.305.
approx 16 miles at 5 knots...
and it would put us amongst those lovely isles to the north west.

Good morning glynn - I don't think [b/news saw your plan but.. as the winds are now forecast to be lighter again, you will be pleasantly surprised at the shape of the course that is now in place!! Looks v similar to the one you proposed - just smaller!! :-)

As for artwork - light years better than mine!!!

All SOLers are invited to join in the first practice race of Vic-Maui 2010 to be held this evening Euro-time. Practice racing is a fun, totally informal and relaxed way to hone your SOLing skills and familiarise yourself with your new boat before the SOL race starts!

From here, our home in Bharatavarṣa is now north west of us – said Sinbad to his fellow balloonists. Perhaps we can ride the wind first further north, and then catch the winds that every year bring the rain, perhaps not. It’s 2600nm and we could be aloft awhile, so, Master el-Quarters, victuals only, no sandbags, provisioning the giant hamper. It will be not a picnic!

Welcome to beautiful Alicante on Spain’s Costa Blanca. Dine on some local tapas and paella before racing your America’s Cup foiling winged-sail AC72 catamaran on this 208nm race out to and around Isla de Formentera returning to Alicante after rounding the mark at Cap de la Nau. Camel or Balloon - Khartoum to N'Djamena


As there is a lull in the calendar, your PRO has decided to risk an experiment – a balloon race over land, using a workaround to eliminate the recognition of water/land transitions. If it fails, the server may crash, and we abandon PDQ, hopefully after leg 7 of the ABS race to Suez has been decided, and before the start of the 1st OCC of Q4. Camel or Balloon – c 1000 nm from a field on the north bank of the Blue Nile at Khartoum to a field on the north bank of the Chari River at N'Djamena!
