As always, open to all SOLers registered in the race, there will be some short practice matchracing to acclimatise to the boat/polar.

FIRST RACE

There will be two starts in case others in different time zones from me (UK) want to "play" too :-)

ROUTE: Clockwise round Catalina Island via Waypoint A (see attached GE pic)

FINISH: to 33.42 / -118.51 (V-shaped bay on W coast of Catalina Island)

I will be canvassing for ideas for tomorrow's race later on!

This is an informal,sociable opportunity to sail a short race with your new boat - feel free to join in at any time during the race!

FROM THE GUN

Only two boats started with the gun, NZL Spindrift and RainbowChaser but WairuaExpress joined in. It was an amiable morning's sailing - not really a race at all!

Coming to the turn at the N end of Catalina Island, it is sassy from Smo, then Pano,with Rainbow and newsartist behind. Ricos has turned a little late for the headland and is now matchracing stoerte!! Sadly, africa has stopped for bbq.

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Masirah to Chagos


Having crossed, re-crossed and re-re-crossed the Convergence Zones of the Pacific and the Atlantic, we now face our second crossing of the Convergence Zone of the World’s third great equator-spanning sea, the Indian Ocean, taking us from the channel between Masirah Island and the Oman mainland to the Chagos Archipelago.
