Board » General Discussion » how to go againts the wind!?

this morning I notice some boats were going towards thee wind just paralel to arrows! and they round the mark in the leading pack! is this a bug or am I missing something?

Check the weather slider. If it is advanced it will not be showing current weather. I made the same error myself using the old client, wondering how'd they do that! :-p
:) well I was sailing in narrow angel so this boat was above me and had no way can sail so close to wind but it was doing strait line to the mark.. ! later when I check its track line it did not show straight line but show some tacks!so hmmm something weard! I dont like it,the course he did and the course show now is definetly different... it is same for my self as well, I missed the mark and come back but you can not see my actual course, so some how track line is changes..
Track lines do not update as often as boat positions. Watch your own track line when you turn sharply and you will not see your turn for a few minutes, then it will "snap back" to the correct position. This must be what you saw in the other boat.

Experiment with your own boat and you will see how this works.
first of all kaan is comments belongs to me I used his pc but forgot that name will appear according to looged boat..

my problem is I saw this boats sailing straigt down to mark which was not possible..thats why I do not understand..but if I ook his track today it has zig zags... opposite to that I missed the mark and went over 1 hour and come back yet you can see straight proper mark rounding for me! which was not!
No boat in this game sails straight towards the wind. We all use the same performance model. Try it and you will see :-)

:) yes I know but in that incident that is the way it looked so next time if I see I will make it sure that I have a screen shot:)jacop can you tell me why track changes later on.. I am pretty sure this boat came straigt line but if I look now to the track line it shows some tacks! if you look at my track line it is not correct I came long way back and ıt is not there.. so that made me confused becouse this boat was sailing realy straigt to the arrows..
Showing all positions in the tracks of all boats would be too impractical from a bandwidth perspective. Thus we select a few points of the route for each boat. You should regard the plotted tracks as "the general path" the boat took. ok? :-)

Lago Viedma Ice Race 2025

Less than one third of the land mass of the planet is to be found in the southern hemisphere, and most of that in tropical to temperate latitudes or in Antarctica, so it is difficult to find good natural ice to race DNs anywhere in August! However, if you take an internal flight from Buenos Aires to Aeropuerto Internacional Comandante Armando Tola de El Calafate by the shores of Lago Argentino, it’s only a 100km taxi ride to Lago Viedma, where we have set out a few beacons on the ice for you for a quick 80nm blast around the four corners of the lake, and as it’s so remote here, no need to worry about breaking the solitude of monks or suffering PL!

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Baia de l'Oiseau to Carnarvon

How ever shall I return to report with clarity to my Great Sultan – asked Sinbad. It needs be told this island and all its fables shall be expunged from the annals of every thousand and one night. The wind howls – and sun be none (it’s Winter, Sin’bro, ed.) – and all days from the west, but let’s launch anyway and see if we can work our SOL Balloon north as the days pass aiming for Asthralaya, where The Mahabharata tells the ancients once tested mighty weapons, about a quarter and a million qasbah away (2500nm, ed.), perhaps one month.
