A thread for posting issues with AGL23.
I appear to have an issue with the graphics when I upload the latest version. The land appears to be a moving starburst.

Please disregard this issue. I completely restarted my computer and this corrected the display issues! :)

Hi Kipper,
Not sure why but I am having the graphics issues again on AGL 23. I restarted my computer and it did not fix the issue this time.
Any thoughts on what I might need to do?
Thanks

All I can think is that you may need to update your graphics card Open GL drivers. Also, you are fully up to date with all windows updates?

I reopened AGL14 and there are no issues with the display.
There is a low level issue rendering the landshape polygon fill with the latest libraries used in AGL23. This only occurs when the graphics is processed by the integrated graphics processor (in software by the CPU) rather than by a dedicated graphics processing unit (GPU) on a graphics card. If this is happening to you, make sure your graphics processing is set to use the GPU if you have one, and not set to "Integrated graphics".

If you don't have a dedicated graphics card in your computer, I have a work around in a patch that I will be releasing that will allow you to turn off polygon fill. This will still show the coastlines, but the land won't be filled.
Hey Kipper - just back from several months off, and noticed the new AGL version. Are there compelling new features that would make me want to switch? I use a laptop that probably does not have the advanced graphics I see being discussed.

Thx.

Install AGL23 as per the instructions and see what happens. Both 14 and 23 can coexist on your computer and run in the same race folder, just not at the same time.

You can keep using 14 whilst getting 23 working.
Kipper - just so you know: I installed and ran AGL23_1_5. Without making any adjustments, everything seems fine except that the land masses are simply outlines (no fill). That is what I expected, I think?

Thanks again for sharing your work (and genius!).

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
