	Hi, I've been lurking since 7/21 and dabbled with the Hawaii race learning the controls. The site was recommended to me by "NewsArtist" at our local Coffee Shop. In real life, I'm a recreational paddler with a 15' canoe and a 9' kayak, so I have a rudimentary knowledge of vectoring but have a lot to learn still. I look forward to fun competition.

	Welcome TLH1310 - as I'm sure newsartist has told you, we are a pretty friendly bunch. If you have questions about racing, just go into one of the open races and ask away in chat... there's often someone around, even if chat itself is quiet, and if they can't help they can usually point out someone who can. There's a fair bit to learn - the old-style interface is deceptive and has a lot of clever functionality so... as/when you've raced a few times, do have a read through the Manual (linked via one of the tabs in the header. --- Last Edited by RainbowChaser at 2018-07-25 21:54:26 ---

	Thank you for the welcoming reply. I completed my first race shot to finish, (I started Hawaii Sat evening, ended about 1 nm short as time ended) and learned a lot more about my racing style. I second-guessed every turn I made fighting with angles (or was that angels). Questions were answered in the chat and coffee with NewsArtist was a help. However, I think I frustrated him by introducing him to the Android App. He got revenge by showing me the Golden Globe race, which I started 3 weeks late. Kapiti Chetwodes Race 2024

For only the second time in SOL history, we have the pleasure of inviting you to the Kapiti Chetwodes Race, held in the Cook Strait region. Organised IRL by the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club from Wellington in New Zealand. The approximately 160nm long route, full of turning points, will take us from the bay at RPNYC around the islands of Somes, Kapiti and Chetwodes and back to the finish line at RPNYC. We have only a 26 ft Albin 79 yacht at our disposal. All this means that we will have a lot of fun, so fair winds!

Two Oceans Doublecross TIMED Race 2024

Our November Timed race takes us to Cape Town near where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. Our ride is a beautiful ketch, the Archer 78. Starting at Cape Town, we’ll round Robben Island, then head south to round Cape Point, up around Seal Island before heading north to round Dassen Island before returning to Cape Town. This is a TIMED race, so you may RE-REGISTER HERE to try again, after finishing a run. You will have 13 days and 11 hours to test your skill and decision making after the race opens.
