Help!!!
My boat, brewman, has rounded all marks today in the Lisboa timed race, but only the Vasco de Gama Bridge & Barrerio marks show "Rounded". The boat track clearly goes around Bugio Lighthouse, yet it does not say "Rounded"> All other marks beyond have same issue.
How can this be?
What Can be done?
Thanks, Bruce Flournoy
Hi Bruce, unfortunately until a mark says rounded, then passing subsequent marks will fail (they won't show as rounded)and, ultimately, crossing the finish line will be impossible. In a Timed event, without finishing a run, you can't begin again.

In this rare situation, in order for you to re-register to run again as you have continued far down course, all we can do is to eliminate the failed run and let you 're-register.

I will be doing this for you after finishing this forum post.

The reality of what you did is, as Smo said in race chat, by rounding initially the wrong way and not reversing to back-track and then correctly rounding the right way (which would have been indicated by the mark label showing "rounded") the rest of your track after that point is irrelevant in the server.

In order to round successfully, after passing a mark on the wrong side, you have to imagine that your track is like a ball of yarn or a piece of rope and as you go back you are gathering it up - this requires you to reverse course. Then when you get to the point before the mark you you can round correctly and continue on course.

I'll now go and "housekeep" your boat!

Hope that is all OK.

A year or more ago, I said that the DCs were failing. I want to thank the one who mentioned my intake of alcohol. And although I talked to you about the chat, my warning was not recognized. I hope this issue is solved, just ruined another regatta a DC.
Greetings to all.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
