Board » Sailonline Yacht Club » 2017 SMPF SCHEME

=======================================
2017 SMPF IS LOOKING FOR SPONSORS !!!!! :)
=======================================

As you all know the SMPF scheme (SYC Membership Pay Forward) has been a success in 2016.

At the end of some 19 races in 2016 one annual membership to the Sailonline Yacht Club was made available by a member of the SOL Community to the best finishing NON member in each race. The 19 winners are now happy members of SYC and compete for one year in all rankings.

The 2016 sponsors did either make their Sponsorship publicly known, or acted anonymously under the flag of the Sailonline Yacht Club.

The SMPF scheme will repeat in 2017, and the Board is now looking for Sponsors throughout the Club Community. The number of slots available is extremely limited, as in 2017 ONLY ONE SMPF race per month will be nominated and sponsored. For obvious organizational reasons we have already THREE sponsors for the first Quarter, whose Calendar had to be published by December 15th 2016. So: only nine places are still available.

By responding promptly to this invitation you will secure yourself a slot in the 2017 Sponsorship list , and if the number of available slots will be completed prior to your proposed sponsorship , you can rest assured that you will be given priority list for 2018.

All you need to do at this time is to write to: coord@sailonline.org , and confirm your willingness to support the SMPF scheme in 2017.

Some important information before you decide:

1)– Your participation to the scheme, should you want to remain anonymous, will be treated in fully confidential mode by the Coordinator and the Sailonline Nav Sim AB President, who will be the only two persons aware of your position in the scheme.

2)- This is by no means a solicitation to invest USD 35,00 into our platform, and you should not in any way feel obliged to adhere to the scheme.

3)- In 2017 the prerequisite of not being a SYC member for the past six months to become eligible for the SMPF scheme , in case of finishing first of non-members, has been raised to twelve months at the moment of finishing the SMPF race.

We look forward to hearing from you and to a well supported 2017 SMPF scheme!

On behalf of Sailonline NAV SIM AB

New Ice Age 2026 - Browerville to Longyearbyen

Our 2026 long-distance ice-boating challenge continues with a second race in Arctic waters, now from Browerville, where we arrived less than a month ago, continuing east, back to Svalbard’s Longyearbyen, leaving Canada’s Ellesmere Island to port and Denmark’s Greenland to starboard. It’s about 2500nm, which, if there’s wind at all, should, well-wrapped in your DN-cockpits, not take you more than a day or three, thus to complete your first (of several) online circumnavigation of the planet of 2026!

Beketov by Balloon 2026 - In Siberia

Way-back-when France and England, and Spain as well, were squabbling about who should control what of North America, only to lose the most of it to their own insurging colonists, their eastern European neighbour empire, Russia, was quietly assimilating vast, thinly nomadically populated territory of its own – Siberia! Amongst the many explorers and adventurers that served Russia so well in these conquests was the Cossack hetman Pyotr Beketov. Let’s pretend we’re he and eschewing horseback, let’s travel by balloon from Yekaterinberg to Krasnoyarsk – just a short 2000km (1100nm) section of the Trans-Siberian Express’ 9289km!

West Papua to Oregon 2026

Our next race in our Ocean Championships is the first of a series of great natural migrations we will track in 2026. The leatherback turtle is the most widely distributed marine reptile on planet Earth, and chooses to breed in warm tropical waters, but prefers to forage in more temperate habitats, travelling thousands and thousands of miles effortlessly annually to maintain this way of life. Our race will follow one of the typical trips of this turtle, from breeding grounds in the seas off West Papua to the coast of Oregon. It’s only 5900nm, so to keep up, but in comfort, we’ll follow in our Gunboat 90.
