Post annotated by RainbowChaser :
This post was moved from the category Sailonline Yacht Club.
Hi,

I've noticed this error a while ago when we switched to the new server, the orange marker were acting weird. No I saw it again. Two markers and in wrong position (was set to 0.8) at the time.

Mostly added here for future reference since I don't think we have any active developer right now.

Yes, I am expecting a "well fix it then comment" :-)

Don't understand why the post ended up in SYC and not in technical Support...

Hi, this is a known bug in the client. What happens here is that if the predictor line runs out of the weather area, the marker is off.

How much the marker is off, depends on how much predictor is outside the weather area.

Sorry, but there is not a fix for it ATM and I can't promise any fix soon.
I usually do my utmost to ensure that the weather zone exceeds the course bounds by at least the max BS x 6 ....

Unfortunately this was not done to the southmost bounds of the Christmas race because it never occurred to me that folks would sail that far south and I was trying to keep the weather zone within the ideal 1000pts size.

Sadly, no-one else thought of it either.

:-(

This Topic belongs in Tech Support:

As hmm has stated this has been encountered previously & From my experience in these conditions I have postulated the where the predictor ends due to the weather boundary the program assumes it to be the 6 hour limit.

Therefore whatever fraction of 6 hr you have entered into the delay box will be displayed proportionally on that basis.

A fact that can be confirmed by choosing 3 hrs & notice that it will always be halfway to the edge.

None so blind
I have seen this same thing, sometimes, when the predictor is NOT crossing the Wx boundary. I know some other have notices that too. It could even be that it was only on one tack, but not on the other.

That this happens at Wx bound is easy to check, but I don't think anyone knows why this also happens when the predictor line is not crossing the wx border..

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Carnarvon to Dondra

From here, our home in Bharatavarṣa is now north west of us – said Sinbad to his fellow balloonists. Perhaps we can ride the wind first further north, and then catch the winds that every year bring the rain, perhaps not. It’s 2600nm and we could be aloft awhile, so, Master el-Quarters, victuals only, no sandbags, provisioning the giant hamper. It will be not a picnic!
