Post annotated by RainbowChaser :
This post was moved from the thread Here is how to propose new races.
Hello,
find here my race proposal for mid-August.
In Mediterranean Sea will run a magnificent race in real life (Tracking avalaible on yellowbrick).
Start the magnificent pink beach of Mondello, arrival in the luxury of Monte Carlo with its skyscrapers.
I had planned to run it, but ......
Let run at least in virtual!

Palermo- Montecarlo Regatta IX Edition

thanks

Ciao Matoto - as you say you were going to race this in reality, would you please check through the official papers/information and see if there is any mention of a virtual version of this race. The reason I ask is that many of the prestigious races around the world are now "in bed with" one of the larger point-and-click sailing games and, if this is the case, Sailonline has to respect that position and adjust what it does accordingaly :-)

Grazie!

Of course, if there is no mention of it, would you feel comfortable asking the organisers if we, Sailonline, might have permission, in exchange for publicising their race for free, to use the official race name and sail a virtual race at the same time?

That would be perfetto!

Your proposal is very clear - thank you!

UPDATE: Matoto is in contact with the IRL organisers so... cross fingers (and paws) that we get approval to at least sail the course at the same time, even if we don't get permission to use the real name!

:-)
Hello SOLers, it would be nice to do this race in SOL ... : http://maserati.soldini.it/maserati-salpa-domani-per-la-transpac/?lang=en

FW all, see you.

Carlo Alberto
Matoto - any information on this? It is in the SOL calendar but we need to choose a boat-type.

If the IRL organisers have not responded, that's fine.. we can call the race something completely different but we do need to know please!

Thanks.
FANTASTICO!!!!

Here is the (Italian original) reply Matoto received earlier today:

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
