I have suggestions regatta modeled on some small interesting races that take place in Poland. These are the Classic Cup Regatta. Take place in the Baltic Sea in September. They can start 2 towers yachts . Regatta conducted without the use of GPS or any electronics navigation. Only traditional navigation. Route is from Gdynia by selected Swedish or Danish port to Gdynia again. I participated in this event several times. It was great fun. Played the race at the same time in the real world and virtualnym would will be very exciting.

Hi lukasz - this looks great! We haven't raced yachts in/near Poland. SOL did, however, sail Tall Ships in Polish waters last summer (while the real Tall Ships were doing so).

Thank you!

Can you come up with coordinates (SOL decimal lat/lon) for the start/marks/finish? that would be very helpful.

Do you know the organisers? Maybe they would like to promote the virtual version of their race? At the top of this Race Proposals forum there is a post with the list of current SOL boats - which do you think would sail best?
Welcome.
Coordinate - I tried to export them to a file kmz. Unfortunately, he went only one point. If it helps I give the coordinates written in plain text, or tell me how to export a few points with Google Earth.

SOL boat - think of the Tall Ships Class C - but I'd like to see exactly poolar the boat. Where can I see it? Participate in the regatta mainly pleasure yachts. They are too fast :)
I know the organizers race - I'm going to speak with them about the integration of the two events.

If it helps I give the coordinates written in plain text

That would be perfect as this is a real race.

I know the organizers race - I'm going to speak with them about the integration of the two events.

Excellent - please make sure they understand that this would be a completely non-commercial "buddy up", with SOL using the real race name and linking information to the official website and the real race simply embedding a link to our website. So not a business deal, just a friendly association with them :-) The Up Helly Aa race is an example as will be The Three Kings Race in New Zealand in February :-)

As for the boat choice - we can choose any boat that SOL has in its "boathouse". You can see a list of the boats here

:-)

Welcome.
I long not to speak. I had a lot of other activities.
Is this format of geographical position correct?
Start by Gdynia at position: lat="54.505690058" lon="18.721033394"
I took the position from gpx file for the race route.

Welcome.
I generated the correct file kmz. RainbowChaser please look inside and let me know if there's anything you need.

Apologies for the late reply but I was in hospital from 29 January to 15 February and only just getting back into SOL admin stuff.

The kmz looks good.

As well as a choice of boat, we will, of course, need:

1. A small Race Description (in English) to go on the right-hand side of the Homepage. You see the sort of thing usually said about races - distance, boat chosen, basic routing, a little info.

and, if the race organisers like the idea of the non-commercial "buddy" mentioned above, then we will also need:

2. Some background to the race (v brief history) etc

and

3. Permission to use images and the race logo from the official website.

We would then plan to race the race at the same time as the official one.

If the race organisers do not give us permission when you speak with them, then we would call the race something else and probably race it at a different time too.

Hopefully when you speak with the organisers they will be happy at what you are suggesting :-)

Good luck!

Welcome.
Sorry for the long break. I send all of the materials needed for the race. We can refer to the official race. We may use the logo race - is the approval of the organizers. If you need anything else let me know.

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
