Race Leaderboard

Another good race for the majority of SOLers with fierce competition for the top spots. Watching two of SOL's "masters of sailing", WINSTON_4 and rumskib, battle it out for #1 was really eye-opening - just how do they spot the smallest of advantages and make best use of them? It is truly a combination of skill, judgment and marshalling all resources at their disposal - in the end, a mere 7 seconds separated them. Congratulations, too, to Aner59, who took the third place on our podium just a couple of minutes later.

All did not go as smoothly for some SOLers who found their boats jumping over the North Island of New Zealand after they had sailed into the rising sun and reached the easternmost boundary of the racing zone. In the past crossing the international dateline has caused problems in Sailonline, as it does with most routing software, but these were resolved. Dateline-triggered jumping has never occurred before and, naturally, we will endeavour to ensure it cannot happen again. However, to commemorate this historic event Sailonline has prepared Certificates for each boat affected and you should already have an email from coord@sailonline.org (if not, please get in contact).

For those of us who didn't jump but who didn't get the results we had hoped for, remember you can always compare your historical track with that of another boat at hmm's SOL Race Data Centre.

ATTENTION Top 10 Finishers!!In addition to the trophies on offer for winning the 2014 Championships this year, there are also awards for the best 10 finishers of each championship race!! Read the Prizes Procedure for all the details and, if you are eligible, make sure to send the requested information to coord@sailonline.org AND src@sailonline.org.

Regata dell’Accademia Navale 2026

Welcome to Sailonline’s partnership with the City of Livorno (Leghorn say the English) in cooperation with the local yacht clubs and the Italian Navy, offering all the online opportunity to race the famous Regata dell’Accademia Navale - 630nm in length. Starting and finishing in Livorno, this year the race takes you the length and breadth of the Tyrrhenian Sea via little Mortorio (Mortoriotto) off Sardinia to Capri and home again to Livorno. This race also counts towards Sailonline’s Magical Mediterranean Series and the SuperBuddy title. Online, you will be sailing a Mini 6.50, to give you a match against several of the real-life entrants, which you will be able to track on-screen!

Rommel by Balloon 2026 - Through the Sahara


Generalfeldmarschall Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel may have been that chivalrous, gallant tank commander of legend, led astray by the Prussian military traditions of loyalty and chain of command, but one thing he wasn’t, was mad. So, let’s do it anyway – not stick to the coast and the battle for logistical superiority – but depart the oases of Siwa south west into the desert for Agadez and its uranium. And let’s go by balloon, it’s only 2500km (1250nm)!

Falklands to Tasmania 2026

Welcome to yet another all-new route. This next race is part of our Ocean Championship as well as the ROW series. Falklands to Tasmania, is like last year's island to island. It’s one of the longer ones 6400nm, more than half way around the world (and the Antarctica). It starts the 2026 OCQ2, and will be sailed in our Steinlager 2, contrary to prior notice.
